Spring Break

Well, only one more day left before I have to head back to work.  Then it’s a long two-month stretch from now until the end of the school year.  I have put in to go to a two day conference middle of April, so that would be a nice break from the every day classroom routine.  Plus I still have at least 1 1/2 personal days left to use, so I need to start planning when I want to take those!  Subs get few as track starts and staff members and coaches take off for that, so I have to plan ahead to make sure they can find a sub so that I can take the day off.  I’m sure the time will fly; it always does this time of the year.

My Spring Break has been wonderful with the exception of my online class which seems to not have a break at all because the assignments keep coming!  I am kind of frustrated because the college was closed this whole past week, but we still had homework assignments since we’re online and not taking the class on-site.  I’m not sure why it’s that way, but I guess I’ll just deal with it, do the homework, and go on my merry way!  🙂

Last Sunday my brother and his wife came with their kids, so we got to spend the day with them on Monday.  They came over to our house, which was really nice, because we normally travel to my Mom and Dad’s house to see them when they’re here.  It was so much fun to see Melissa, our niece, and to hold little Ryan.  He is growing up so quickly!  He’s pulling himself up now, so it’ll be a matter of time before he starts attempting those first steps!

Tuesday was a day to myself of getting things done around the house and just relaxing.  My allergies were acting up, so I did lounge a lot of the day and watch some of the TV shows I never get to see when I’m at work.  Trent had to teach this day, so the house was pretty quiet.

Wednesday Trent and I spent the first part together and then met up with my mom and a friend for lunch.  Then we stopped in and visited his grandma and mom, and then I took off for Kansas City.  Trent had to stay behind because he had to teach Thursday and Friday, but that gave me a chance to escape to KC for some "girl time."  I went to stay with my friend Rachel, who just found out a while back that she’s expecting their first child in October. So, we know we need to get in some girl time before the baby arrives because naturally then life takes on a different, exciting look for her and her husband as they become parents.

We had such a good time in Kansas City!  She had to work Thursday morning (she’s a massage therapist), but then she scheduled me for a massage around noon that day.  That was awesome and quite the treat!  Then we went out to eat and did some shopping.  That night was spent relaxing watching the KU game.  Then Friday was a full day of shopping, which was great!  I love being with Rachel because we just get along great and have a wonderful time!  We have been friends for so long that we just get each other and really view being together as quality friend time.  It was fantastic!  Last night we then just hung out with her husband and brother-in-law watching TV and then having a few drinks.  We were up really late talking and having a good time, so I was late getting up and around this morning to head home.

The 6-hour drive home by myself seemed like forever, but it’s nice to be back at home. I always feel a little depressed after leaving my friend in KC because I really miss her and wish that we lived close enough that we could get together for casual little outings like friends do.  It does make it really special when we get to be together because we don’t get to very often, but I still wish she was closer.  She’s the only person that has really ever truly gotten me and been there through absolutely everything.  It’s always nice to be home, but it’s always hard to say good-bye when I leave her.

Hubby was glad to see me when I got home!  I always hate to leave during my Spring Break because I feel like I’m giving up time with him, but I’m sure he just spent the past few days watching tons and tons of basketball (which he is doing now, as his beloved Jayhawks are playing).  Nevertheless, I’m glad to be back at home with him.  Maybe we can head out for a walk or something tonight to spend some time together before my Spring Break fully comes to an end.

I hope everyone else had a great week and those of you that were on Spring Break had a relaxing break from work or school!

Glad to see hear that you had a great week! I hoped you were able to get away and relax – you work so hard as it is! 🙂 Yay for girl time — thats always the best! And go Jayhawks (I have a friend who lives in Wichita and is a huge KU fan herself…I’m kinda biased) Enjoy the weekend! 🙂

We went to KC over break too… I enjoy going up there on occasion, but wouldn’t want to live there or have to drive around dealing with the idiots on the interstate 24/7. It’s sad that Spring Break is almost over… n

Well if you’re a six hour drive from KC, you’re a little farther out than I am, but it’s definitely chilly. I’m afraid to look out the window because I don’t want to see if there’s snow on the ground or not. I know it snowed in Manhattan, but it didn’t get to Topeka as far as I know.
