Snow Day!

Well, I guess you could say it’s more of an "ice day" since we got out today due to the amount of ice on the ground.  It is supposed to start snowing this afternoon and have about 5-9 inches by tomorrow.  So, I’m not sure what to think about having school tomorrow or not.

We knew the storm system was moving in, so we scrambled yesterday to get the students to finish their projects that they are taking home for Christmas.  So, those are at least done.  I was proactive enough to pack up things that I needed to make my students’ Christmas  presents, so I can get that done today, too.  It is nice to have the day off today to clean house and do laundry and that sort of thing, but I do really hope we have school tomorrow and Friday.  We are kind of done at this point doing the actual work stuff, and tomorrow and Friday are full of holiday things.  Those are the things that I love most about being a teacher at this time of the year.  I will be very disappointed if things don’t work out to have some of our holiday gatherings.  Our principal’s gift to us is that she is taking the students for a movie tomorrow afternoon and giving us teachers snacks and treats in a different classroom and just time to relax and spend time together.  I am really looking forward to having that extra down time as a grade level, so I hope that things work out so that we can still do that.  We’ll just have to wait and see…

I did go back to bed this morning and slept for an extra 3.5 hours, which tells me just how worn out I have been.  I haven’t had the opportunity to really sleep in for well over a month, so it was extremely nice to get to do that today!  Now it’s already noon, and I’m still lounging in my pajamas.  I plan to stay like that for the day as I work on getting a few things done around the house.

Well, work is calling my name!  I hope all of you are keeping warm right now and remain safe if you, too, have ice and snow headed your way.  Take care and have a beautiful Wednesday!

it’s been raining south of Overland Park, well in Overland Park and I sure hope it doesn’t turn into ice or snow. I thought it was supposed to be warm again tomorrow. But with ansy students getting out a day early may be good, but parents won’t be ready without babysitters.

Nothing but rain, here. That is such a neat idea that your principal is putting into action! n

It hasn’t been cold enough to snow here lately…..although today’s in the high 30’s and it was 25 or so a few weeks ago but just for 1 day. I would LOVE some snow here for Christmas, but alas it will be too warm! Take pictures! 🙂
