4 more days…

That’s the number of days that I have left to teach my students before Christmas break!  They don’t get out until 1:30 on Friday, which is going to make for a very long week.  They are already so hyper; I’m not sure how or what I’ll do to entertain them the rest of the week.  I want to keep things as "normal" as possible, but I also want to avoid giving myself a lot of grading and other things to keep up with.  I have enough to do with all of the extras from the week and finishing up grades for the end of the nine weeks.

Tomorrow is my father-in-law’s birthday.  He adores his mom’s chocolate pie (which I have the recipe for), so I am getting ready to go and make the filling.  The crust has been cooling for a while now.  I wanted to be in bed by 10:00 tonight, but seeing that it’s now already 10:30, I guess I didn’t make it.  Oh, well.  It’s worth it to make him his favorite dessert.  I just hope that it turns out all right.

We went to KC this weekend to celebrate Christmas with Trent’s sister and her family.  It was really nice to see everyone.  It was a quick trip down on Friday and then back Saturday, but it was still fairly relaxing.  Trent and I managed to meet up with a friend of mine and her husband for dinner Friday night, too.  I got quite a few neat gifts.  I got a robe, slippers, purse, Bath & Body things, Maurice’s gift certificate, fountain, and lounging clothes.  It was fun!  I was glad we got to see Trent’s sister before she heads off to San Francisco for Christmas.  It’s going to be weird not having her here on Christmas.

Sunday I spent the day at my parents’ house finishing painting their dining room.  It looks really good!  Now I can’t wait to help my mom pick out some decorations to put up.

I can’t believe Christmas is only a week away!  This is my absolute favorite holiday because I love the way it makes  me feel on the inside.  I love the decorations and hearing from family and friends.  I love the way that stores play the Christmas carols, and I love the giving spirit that so many have during this time of the year.  It truly reminds me of the miraculous birth of Christ that happened so many years ago.  I hope that you all have some time to sit back and enjoy the season.  Have a wonderful week!

You’ll manage through the week! Brem’s going through the same thing…he’s not sure how to entertain his students (or rather, how to keep them focused) this week. He found worksheets right before Thanksgiving to be a godsend. 🙂 Good luck, and I hope you have a fabulous holiday & new year. Wishing the best for you and your family for 2007.
