The slanderer’s blog

I read the blog of Doctor Livio’s slanderer, this Doctor Del Don. He does not really slander Doctor Livio, he expresses an opinion – a very popular one – in a very unprofessional and vulgar way. This can do nothing but bring discredit on him. He wrote something like "Then there is that psychiatrist, Doctor C (Doctor Livio), who speaks about reduced responsibility of the accused… let’s hope the judge won’t let himself be led by the nose by him". And so on, in the same ironic-offensive tone. I think that there are several ways of expressing opinions, and the way Doctor Del Don chose is the one of a frustrated poor professional who is just envious of a colleague who is better than him.

I think that Doctor Del Don vented an opinion which is shared by many, since the whole pedophile’s case shook the whole province. But he did it in the same way as a non professional like me could have done it, maybe in a fit of anger, without necessarily write it. Moreover, as far as I know, he never visited the accused. He never talked to him, he just knows what we all know from newspapers, television and media in general. I think that as a professional, before criticizing or attacking the psychiatrist’s report of a colleague, he should have had more evidence supporting his point of view. And even if he had had it, there are more elegant ways of expressing an opinion.

I sent an email to Doctor Livio, in the first place to rectify the information I gave him about blogs – yesterday he asked me how blogs work and I mostly explained him how my blog works. Which is very different from a blog integrated in a personal web site. Even on Doctor Del Don’s blog there is the possibility of leaving comments, and I was about to write something like "What is your opinion of the accused after visiting him?". It wanted to be provocative, since I know he never visited him. Then, I left it. There is no point in getting involved in a virtual fight with such an aggressive person like this psychiatrist. He should be ignored. I admit that I belong to the ones who would like to see that pedophile judged as a perverse person who is going to be locked away all his life long – I am very emotional as far a s sex offenders are concerned. I wrote to Doctor Livio that his colleague states a very popular opinion. But he does it in a coarse way. Common indignant citizens like me have the right to be emotional. But professionals should remain unbiased and state facts. This is what we all have the right to expect from judges, Police officers, and the ones who are called to make psychiatrist’s reports or give whatsoever expert opinion. In the end, Doctor Livio was brave enough to become the most unpopular person in the province after the accused. This is what the colleague with whom he shares the surgery jokingly told him the day of the process. I don’t think this story will bring him much glory. It is mostly a thankless task.

I don’t know what the future will bring. The pedophile appealed against the sentence, and I don’t know if Doctor Livio will be further involved in the case. Maybe he will be called to defend his position and professional opinion on the accused. If Doctor Livio stated what he stated, it is because he is convinced that this is the truth, so I think he will not withdraw from his duty to confirm his point of view. He said to me that when the freedom of a human being is at steak, every detail has to be taken into consideration. Well, I agree. I don’t know how far a pedophile can be cured from his tribes, I don’t know how far it is correct to consider him a victim of said tribes he can’t control, but I agree on the fact that if people were locked away in prison and the key of their cell were thrown away, Justice would not really be done. To be honest, I don’t know what to think anymore, I don’t manage to have a clear mind on the whole matter, because sex offenders are the ones I loathe the most. Even more than murderers.

I trust Doctor Livio enough to know that he will go the right way.

by “tribes,” do you mean “impulses?” as in “I don’t know how far a pedophile can be cured from his tribes…”

Thanks for your note. It is a dangerous situation and I just pray that everyone will be ok. I hope that she can keep me updated. Hope you have a good weekend. Take care.

There is such a prejudice against sex offenders here in the States (whether justified or not, I can’t say, but as a Mother, I certainly have a strong opinion) that the sex offenders cannot find places to live in communities. Therefore “institutions” are set up for them, very similar to the jail they just got out of. This infuriates them, and even though ongoing counseling is offered, some refuse

I know there are different ‘degrees’ of sex offenders, i.e. a slightly older adult consensually sleeping with a just-underage minor is not, to me anyway, the same as an adult having sex with children – and yet they’re all called sex offenders, all listed on registries, etc., and to me that seems a bit unfair. There are some who definitely deserve to burn in hell, but others just made stupid mistakes (with consensual, if underage, partners) that they’ll pay for the rest of their lives. Of course it can be hard to identify the thin line between the two, sometimes. I don’t blame you for feeling confused.

I think it’s quite hard to not have an emotional reaction to a case like this, because yeah pedophilia is probably one of the most touchiest subjects ever… I mean you can’t help but think, this is just too awful for someone to do, no matter what mindset they’re in… but, well, it does depend on the individual. I agree though, I have faith that Dr. Livio will stay in the right about this ~~~>

thankyou big sis, what a lovely note<3 I am terrible at maths honestly I HATE IT SO MUCH KILL ME NOWW haha

Dr Livio has stated quite plainly that the accused would only be safe for his (vices) if he were to be kept away from young people. IN OTHER WORDS, the accused only belongs imprisoned – away from young people. I think that Dr Livio has treaded very carefully. And ultimately, the Judge is to make the final decision. Let’s hope the Judge is the one to see what I see 😀
