Been A While
Guess it’s been a while since I updated here. I have forgotten what we did in Boston, it was so long ago. We went on a whale watch tour. It was fabulous. One of the best day trips ever. Saw lots of whales and were entertained for a long while by one whale laying on his back, flipping his tail. It was cool.
School has started, and of course sports season too. JD made the freshman team. She was rated 10 out of the 14 girls trying out. They didn’t "cut" anyone, but suggested to the the players listed 11 -14 that if they wanted to resign they could have their money back. All but one took the option and the other one is now the manager. They told JD she would probably not get a lot of playing time, but wanted her to be on the team. She is actually playing more than she thought and is working very hard in practice to improve her skills. Her coach, a rather crusty ol’ lady, is working with her too. She is learning what rewards come to those who work hard. A good lesson.
DJ is running cross country. Junior High runs 1.5 mile races. Their first meet was a couple of weeks ago. It was nearly 100 Degrees and she said it was difficult. Their coach said it was one of the more difficult courses of the year (hill wise). She finished 28th in a time of just over 26 minutes. Last weekend was our home meet. It was a perfect day of around 65 degrees and a much flatter course. She shaved 5 minutes off of her time and finished in 22nd place in just over 11 minutes. The girl a head of her finished 1/100 of second before her. She thought she had a litte more room to pass her or would have begun her final surge earlier. What a kid!
This week is homecoming and the girls have been really busy. JD is in the HS band and has to wear the "kilt" uniform and march with a real bagpipe band this year. She said she may quit band. I think its more about fashion than anything else She is almost 15 after all!
LOL…Fashion is important when you’re 15…or 25…or 45…or 65…

Oh, I would love to see those kids. I LOVE BAGPIPES. My 17 yr. old G.Daughter is in the marching band for her HS. Last year she was their mascot. Which was a leapord. These kids grow up toooo fast. RYN Yesterday we thought we might get a tropical Depression on top of us. It went East toward E. Texas & toward La. We are only 90 miles from Galveston. PRETTY SCAREY. Hugs, G.R.**
