Getting Ready

We are getting ready for our trip to Boston next week. We leave on Sat, drive to the airport 300 miles away.  Fly out Sun, spend the week in Boston and leave on Sat morning.  I have meetings all day Tues and Wed and 1/2 on Thurs.  Monday night,  Tuesday night and Thursday night we have "events".

Monday night is the welcome dinner and we are to be entertained by "Chicago".

Tuesday night is the Fund companies big dinner, this year titled "A taste of Boston"

Thursday night is the gala dinner, very fancy and the entertainment is Glen Frey and Joe Walsh.

Wednesday night we go to the ball game at Fenway.

Oh, yeah and we just found out that on Tues and Wed morning, Jim Craig is going to be there to sign autographs and take pictures.  I have 2 girls who are beside themselves over that. (in case you aren’t hockey fans, Jim Craig was the goalie on the 1980 Olympic hockey team)

I found a sitter for little dog, but have to take him to the vet for a check up today, he needs some shot to be current and they can’t take him in without the shots, been meaing to do this for a while anyhow.

Mr M was going to talk to some people about the big dogs, need to check with him on that.

Got all of our flight stuff the other day.  We were suppose to have a 3 hour lay over in Denver on the way down but they changed it 🙁  sorry mama.

Girls both played in the state softball tournaments last weekend in their respective age groups.  It was really hot, but we camped at the KOA in the mountains outside of town about 10 miles and it cooled off wonderfully at night and we all slept good.  Both teams got 3 place and both girls had some good plays and a some not so good ones.  But it was a lot of fun.

The girls are counting down days until school starts.  This week was the first time they weren’t booked up doing things.  They have been doing a lot of baby sitting and of course softball practice every night from 6-8 kept them busy, but this week they stayed home and watered trees and washed clothes and cleaned house and they got bored really fast.  Next week they will be busy getting ready to go so that will help.

They both had sports physicals one evening this week, so are ready for their sport seasons to begin.  DJ had been trying to decide if she was going to go out for cross country or volleyball.  We were encouraging her to do cross country, but she was standing back from it a bit, she loves to run, but is a little afraid of "distance"  (because her dad always says he was a sprinter, not a distance runner.  Funny how they pick up on things like that).  Anyhow, the other day she got a letter from the cross country coach.  He already has her on the team.  We told her that doesn’t mean she absolutely has to do it if she doesn’t want to, but, we think she should give it a try.  The coach knows her well as he has watched her win the 5th grade and 6th grade cross country competetions, watched here in her Hershey meets and actually came down to the school and worked with them for a week last spring before school got out.  He knows what he can get out of her.  We also told her it would help with conditioning for hockey and I think that is what sold her on it.  JD will try out for the Freshman volleyball team.  This is the first year they will "cut" players.  I think she will do just fine though.  Her confidence has really bloomed in the last 6 months and I am really glad to see it.

Well lots to do today, better get at it

Although it will be less convenient to have them in different sports, I think it will be a good thing. RYN: Sure. Come on down!
