Busy as a Beaver

We have been busy, busy around here.  After our trip to ND for the wedding we went to a softball tourney in the middle of the state.  Both girls played on seperate teams (almost all of their games were played at the same time on seperate fields) I spent an inning at one game, an inning at the other….I was starting to get dizzy!  DJ’s 12 U team finished in 2nd place while JD’s 16 U team finished in 3rd.  It was a beautiful day in the mountains and they had a really good time.

This weekend DJ ran in the state Hershey track meet.  This year she qualified in the 100M race.  She made it into the finals by placing 4th in her heat.  She ended up in 8th place in the final.  She was moved up into the 13-14 division even though she is only 12.  They redid how they figure their ages this year so she went from being 11 last year to 13 this year and found some tough competition.  She had a blast and meet some really great girls who told her she was really good and impressed with how well she ran without any formal training.  They asked her how she trained, and she told them she races her little dog.  They laughed and she said "but, he is really fast, I can’t beat him!"

From there we raced down the interstate 3 1/2 hours to were JD was playing in another softball tourney.  We missed her first two games, but caught her last one on Sat.  They played again on Sunday and captured 2nd place in a heartbreaker (lost 11-13).

Mr M was not able to go on this whirlwind adventure with us as he was on call this weekend.  Good thing he was home, because an awful storm rolled through town and county.  Golf ball sized hail upto 2 feet deep, 70 mph winds, 4 inches of rain.  They had power out all over.  He went to work at 6:00 Sat night, got home at 6:00 Sun night, slept until 3:00am Mon morning and got called out again.  He came home around 5:30am, had some breakfast and went back out.  He said they have poles and lines down all over.

The good news is that our home was spared damage.  The hail came down here, but much smaller, you can see where it was bad starting less than a mile south of our place.  The neighbors (who moved in last week) had their basement window well fill up with water, causing the window to break and flooded their daughter’s bedroom. (they were at the softball game too).  Lots of damage in town.  Many, many broken windows.

Well off I go to work.
