Thorns
I read a story the other day that talked about being thankful for thorns.
It said that throughout our lives we are thanking God for the blossoms in our lives. The things that make us happy, make us rich, make us prosper.
It went on to say that we should also be giving thanks to God for the thorns in our lives. The things that make us strive, make us humble, make us strong.
It is hard to say thank you for bad things, like a child who got yelled at for running into the street, we feel sad, lonely, heartbroke. How are we to give thanks for these things that tear our hearts out, leave us feeling hopeless, hapless?
Yet it is from these hardships that we grow, gain strength, and yes, get a little closer to our God. Although we may at first blame, curse, and disagree, in the end it is Him who we turn to for comfort and love.
So may I suggest that this Thanksgiving as you are setting your table with a bountiful, beautiful bouquet to celebrate and give thanks, add a thorny stem and give thanks for the thorns in your life.
You’re totally right. I’m always glad for those thorns in my side, as they’ve given me the opportunity to appreciate the good things in life. I wouldn’t be the same person without them. Thank you for reminding me. 🙂

That’s so true, I never really looked at life in the prespective but your right. That’s what will make us stronger. Even though we don’t like it we have to except it. have a good weekend.

Paul’s Thorn in the side prompted the Lord to say to him, “My strength is made perfect in weakness.” It is only when we are totally dependent on the Lord that we recognize His awesome power and majesty. The thorns in our lives are send to make us lean on Him — the only place in the uniters where we are safe.
