Plugging away
There have been a few times when I think to myself "why keep denying yourself" or "what will one little piece of brownie hurt" or something along those lines, but in the end I know I’d feel guilty and I refrain from endulging. There are gluten free options I can make to satisfy any craving, just takes a bit of extra time, effort, and cash.
That’s the hardest part… Ben fully supports me on this diet, and is always willing to try any new recipe I make, and follows the recipe as strictly as I do, and for that I’m thankful. But eating this way is quite a bit more expensive than we used to eat, and I sometimes feel like we shouldn’t be spending this much money on just food.
But it’s for our health.
*sigh* It’s just so hard to know if it’s worth it. Every health store or health magazine, or article, or health "doctor" type person says something different is good for you. No one agrees on what is most healthy, or which suppliments you should be taking, and it’s all so confusing so who do you trust? Do you try out everything once to see what works for you?
Well, we’re trying out this diet. I feel pretty good… though it hasn’t given me any more or less energy, I definitely am proud of the amount of sugar I’ve cut out, and the amount of veggies i’ve been eating. Perhaps it just needs more time for all the benefits to really come to surface.
Really, my main beef with this diet is the expense. Sure sometimes being in the kitchen so much intimidates me, and brings me down, but I know it’s good for me, and I’m learning so much! But I’m buying groceries every other day it seems, and the bill is never less than $30.00 (usually closer to $60.00).
I have yet to make any OD friends on here… I’ve been trying to find people with like-minded health goals to connect with, but it’s been slow and difficult, with few responses. I’ll keep plugging away. Even without other people reading this blog, it’s been a great help to me on this journey.
