What If God Was One Of Us? (Think about it…)

If God had a name what would it be?
And would you call it to his face?
If you were faced with him
In all his glory
What would you ask if you had just one question?

*And yeah, yeah, God is great
Yeah, yeah, God is good
Yeah, yeah, yeah-yeah-yeah

What if God was one of us?
Just a slob like one of us
Just a stranger on the bus
Trying to make his way home

If God had a face what would it look like?
And would you want to see
If seeing meant that
you would have to believe
in things like heaven and in Jesus and the saints
and all the prophets (*)

Trying to make his way home
Back up to heaven all alone
Nobody calling on the phone
‘cept for the Pope maybe in Rome(*)

Just trying to make his way home
Like a holy rolling stone
Back up to heaven all alone
Just trying to make his way home
Nobody calling on the phone
‘cept for the Pope maybe in Rome

This song may have been a one hit wonder… But it does leave us with an interesting question to consider… Not the question of your belief in God in the first place… but the question of ones Faith in LIFE…

Where DOES your faith lie? Does it lie in the FORM or the TEACHING brought to you and the changes that those teachings have brought to your life… Where does it lie?

If you DID find out one day that religion and God was a farce, how would that effect your life? Would you stop trying to live a life in accordance to all the values extolled by your religion? Would you give up believing that LOVE will heal your life and the life of others? Will you stop believing that the TRUTH will set you free? Will you then lose HOPE that things can get better in your life upon your own efforts, and with the help of others? Will your lose your INNER STRENGTH? Will you then compromise on YOUR VALUES and YOUR INTEGRITY? Will you not believe in HUMAN KINDNESS? Will you think that RIGHTEOUSNESS then serves no purpose? Would you then support war in abandonment of BROTHERHOOD and NON-VOILENCE?

If it was truly founded that MAN created GOD because in his adulthood he no longer had a figure to fear and created GOD as an ultimate figure to fear to keep themselves in line… If that was true instead

WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

HOW WOULD IT EFFECT YOU?

WOULD IT CHANGE YOUR LIFE AND YOUR MISSION?

If you’ve believed all these years that you’ve been spending time serving others, helping the needy, feeding the poor, because Jesus did that… If you’ve been doing Meditation and living in moderation and going into self-reflection because Buddha showed us that path… If you’ve been going to the temple, doing the rituals, also feeding and helping the poor, chanting prayers, meditating, doing Yoga because Rama and Krishna said that was the way… If you’ve been fasting for a month, praying 5 times a day, paying Zakat and have gone to Mekkah, reading your Quran everyday and living in avoidance of the temptation of liquor, gambling, fonication, doing good, being good, seeing good because Mohammed and the Quran called that for all Islam….

If you’ve been living your life in accordance to your religious beliefs WHAT WOULD YOU DO if you that foundation gets torn down? If somehow it IS proven that Hindusm, Buddhism, Islam, Christianity – all religions were just a BIG LIE and A CON? If they call Sai Baba and prove Swami to be the Biggest Con of All and all Groups like the Bahai the same for the promotion of the belief in God and religion…

HOW WOULD THAT MAKE A CHANGE IN YOUR LIFE?

WHERE DOES YOUR FAITH LIE?

Is it within the FORM? Within the NAME? Or within the TEACHINGS?

Is your Faith in your God YOURS or a faith PUT INTO YOU but not totally embraced by you? Are you a BELIEVER or just a FOLLOWER?

Is it your WAY OF LIFE or just a PATH OF EXPLORATION?
<br style=”font-weight: bold;” />I’ve been thinking about that… I believe that THAT is why Bhagavan said "Either you should surrender to God or you should be able to follow your own dictates, but you should not reveal your hollowness by merely immitating."

Bhagavan didn’t say that we HAVE to surrender to God, but if we do it must be total…. And if we want to say that we live by our own rules, then we have to do so with those rules truly being your own and not something you’re just copying of someone else because it looks interesting…. Bhagavan did not say that you should surrender to God AND live by your own rules at the same time, because some of it doesn’t fall in line with all that ‘surrendering to God’ encapsulates…

It is NOT WRONG for a person to NOT believe in God but have their own set of Values to live their own lives… It is only wrong or mislead if they are floundering with no form of foundation and values at all.

Swami insist that we develop Self-confidence…. Wether you believe in God or Not, THAT is the key… Swami always says that life doesn’t test you beyond your capability to handle that test, but if you fail, it is only because you doubted your own capabilities and strengths to pull yourself through it!

But with self-confidence, you will know and believe that whatever life throws at you, you WILL prevail and WILL come out STRONGER, BETTER, WISER than before, and that YOU WILL NOT FAIL.You may fall, but your confidence will boost you back up to keep going at it until you are the victor!

But all that also lies in this question of Faith…. Where does it lie?

Seek and you shall find…

God be with you always.

Sincerely,
The Thinker
(This was the topic I picked for the Study Circle at prayer this week. It was really very interesting… So I thought that I’d share it with you as well…)
