cough and cold
I have had a bad cold, for almost 2 weeks now. one of those that just hangs on and on. Last week I was flat on my back for 3 days, so it was nice to stand up right since then. I exist on cold medication. wonderful life. (sniffle)
well enough of feeling sorry for myself. it is what it is. I do wish I had a maid comein and clean while I was sick! but no, just me
Over the past months that I was "off line" , my middle child–adult daughter– adopted a standard pootle. she was running loose out by the Denver Airport for 3 years, as no one could catch her. they finally put some drugged foodout and got her that way. The lady from the pound kept her at her home for another year. and then let us adopt her. she is about 7 yrsold and amazingly sweet. doesn’t bark, except when she has a nightmare (propably of defending herself from coyotes) snuggels up really well, and loves to go with, where ever. oh and did you know pootles don’t shed? and are non alergic? we have had her for 6 or 7 months now.
wendy also adopted/ rescued another horse. this one was at the barn where we board. we were coming back from a ride, and saw two hispanic men trying to load a horse into a trailer. the mare was not having it, reahing up and throwing herself back wards, repeadly. they were whripping her and tying to force her in. as wendy said, she will break her neck throwing herself back wards like that. So she zipped off to talk to the barn owner about it. and when he came the Hispanic men stopped abusing the horse, and agreed to run the horse in the round pen "to tire her out", but they again just wipped her around and around. so wendy went to the young woman who owned the horse, and talked to her. it seems the late teens or early 20’s lady was getting married and didn’t want the horse anymore, she had had her at the barn for 8 months. no one had ever seen her out there, the horse just stood in the pen. well she was selling her to the hispanic men for 145 dollers. for those of you who don’t know price of horses, that is what is called "killer weight" the price per pound to someone who is going to kill the horse for food. wendy ended up buying her for 150. and sent the hispanics packing. the mare, a red dun, that turned out to have amazing quarter horse breeding, was under weight, needed feet trimmed and no one even knew if she was broke to ride. so last thing we needed was another horse. wendy swore she was going to get a good home for it. yeah right. she loves a project. and this horse is that. so after a month, the mare is filling out, answers to her name of "honey" and is starting to be accepted into our own herd. but she spooks a lot. and is very "green" broke (not very broke to ride) so we have a natural horseman who is coming up from Arizona (one of wendys friends) in June to help re start her, as a riding horse. meanwhile, on the weekends there is some ground work to do with her. like I said wendy loves a project. her old gelding is on stall rest, and has serious health problems, her black gelding also has healing injuries — he was running in the snow, slipped on ice and hurt his spine in a fall, but he is recovering. kind of like kids, always something. my mare, I now can call her that. is round and opinated. but we get along.
so thats the up date. this weekend I really HAVE to mow the lawn, and paint the 3rd bedroom. my sister is in the next weekend and we re off to dads.
you all stay healthy and enjoy each day!
sounds like you’ve had a lot going on what with a new dog and a new horse. glad the horse is doing so well. is the pootle a new breed of dog or did you mean poodle? i know they are mixing certain breeds with each other to make a totally different kind of dog. i have a chiweenie which is a mix between a chihuahua and a mini dachshund. so, maybe you have one of those new mixes? hope you get to feeling better real soon. take care,
