the crazies you have to dodge

I didn’t want to get up this morning. The cat kept jumping on me and nibbling me in the night so I didn’t sleep very well. But I had to drive BF to work so I could go to my appointment this afternoon. It was a group info session about type 2 diabetes, which I have. I knew pretty much everything they talked about but it was still worth going I think. I learned a couple neat things. And it got me out into the world for a change. Got me an individual appointment with the nurse and dietician in February too!

On the way out, I had a parking ticket on my windshield though. *sigh* I was told by hospital staff to park in the "Patient Only" spots since I had an appointment. Apparently that didn’t mean I didn’t still have to get a time card… wtf. Anyway, I’m going to dispute it because none of the machines are even near the row I parked on and a hospital employee told me it would be fine. I asked her first if there was an ATM in the lobby (there wasn’t) since I only had my debit card with me — so she DID know I didn’t have any money… bah. anyway.

I went shopping after that, looking for a stationery set for CFMIL for Christmas. Do you think I can find one of those damn sets ANYWHERE??? No. I’ve checked Walmart, Michaels, Hallmark, Superstore, Liquidation World, Party Packagers, The Book Depot, the drug store — all places I’ve seen nice sets before. Of course now there are none to be found. My next attempts will be Shoppers, Zellers, Pier 1/Home Sense (one of them… I saw stationery sets in their flyer today). If I can’t find any after that we’ll be changing plans and the old bag will get something else. Probably a bingo gift certificate to go with the pendant we’re going to pick up at Ardene.

Walmart was insane this afternoon. Every single cash was open and lined up with at least 8 people, not including all the crazies you have to dodge in the aisles. I went to get in line to check out but then I just left the cart. I couldn’t stand it. Had to get OUT!!! I’ll go back one night this weekend and do my stuff. Sometime after 3am I think. Hopefully, it won’t be nearly as busy at that hour.

Last night I forgot my purse in the cart when we left Superstore. OMG! PANIC!!! We got all the way home before I realized it was gone and we had to high-tail it back. Just as we pulled up, an older couple was pulling it out of the cart. BF wasn’t done his shift last night until close to 11pm so we had headed over to Superstore after that – it’s cool that they’re open 24 hours this year too! Thank god they weren’t busier otherwise my purse surely would be MIA.
I mean, I need a new purse but I didn’t want to get rid of this one so hastily!!! lol

I was going to head out again and check a couple other places I needed to stop – like Ardene. But I lost all my energy, nearly fell asleep on the couch before my mom called and woke me up. I will have to pick up BF around 8pm unless he is stuck at work until god-knows-when again tonight.

Still no idea if my girlie party is a go for next week… kind of upsets me but also kind of relieves me cuz I still have SO much to do.

I really want to get a pedicure before Christmas… and a massage… dammit, I neeeeeeeeeed some relaxation. My neck muscles are soooo tight it feels like my head is going to pop off most of the time. I’m constantly trying to stretch those muscles. And you know men are only so good at the massage thing for so long. Our insurance will cover a massage… I just need to find time to get in there!

We have to buy winter tires and get a couple repairs done on the car next week. Meh.

We also want to buy a big screen tv but with the economy the way it is AND BF’s job situation, I’m nervous about spending that much money. I’m also not sure if waiting until after Christmas would be a good idea. Traditionally, boxing week sales are better for deals than before-Christmas promotions… This year I think stores just want to get rid of as much product as possible…

Anyway, I heard today that Hugh Jackman will be hosting the Oscars. I’m down with that. Shoud be good!
