Terrorist Attacks – 6th Anniversary
It’s been six years since I woke up to a day of news reports about the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center, U.S. Capitol, and Pentagon. From that, I learned about a new evil person named Osama Bin Ladin. Classes were cancelled, and I did not watch the news, because a picture is worth a thousand words. Seeing the buildings collapse, emergency people and vehicles everywhere, victims, their loved ones, and other destruction would be too much for me. However, I decided to listen to President Bush’s speech for a little encouragement.
I caught a cold two days later, on Thursday, September 13, 2001, and I partly blame the terrorists for it. I had a sore throat, which was replaced by nasal problems and coughs for about a week. The terrorists’ bad deeds had made me angry and depressed, and it might have affected my condition. Getting sick after September 11, 2001 made this date easier to remember. In the following years, September 13 grew easier to remember because it became the death day of two of my hamsters, Lasmin in 2002 and Sugar in 2004. With September 13 more ingrained in my mind, September 11 went along with it.
In September, 2006, I went to see the movie, World Trade Center, and the scenes of the attacks and their aftermath were very heart-breaking. I almost burst into tears despite the happy ending.
Now, six years later, September 11 once again falls on a Tuesday. I’m glad Saddam Hussein has been executed, but they still haven’t caught Bin Laden. Even worse, Ground Zero still exists, and it is a tear-jerking sight.
This entry is a tribute to all the 9/11 heros, victims, and their loved ones. I try to write one every year.
