Death in a Professor’s Family

While discussing some patients’ case with a supervisor this morning, we were informed about some tragic news.  One of our professor/supervisor lost her son to a motorcycle accident Friday, May 4, 2007, so they are asking for donations.  I didn’t realize that the professor wasn’t at the graduation ceremony Saturday, May 5, 2007, and they didn’t say anything about it, either.  Maybe most people didn’t know, or they didn’t want to spoil the event.  The professor will not be at school for about two weeks.  I can understand why: it is too devastating.

Haven’t we had enough deaths, disasters, and other tragedies lately? The world doesn’t need anymore.  Why do tragedies almost always happen to those who don’t deserve them? This is another example of how unfair life is.
