WASC Week
WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges) was at our school from April 2-4, 2007. There are many things I know they won’t be happy about: being Korean-centered, cliques, no feelings of community, inconvenient schedules, too many night classes and not enough daytime classes, unsanitary treatment rooms, disorganization, and irresponsible workers. However, the school administration and staff will probably know how to get away with things.
During those three days, I had a patient who is a WASC member, but wasn’t assigned to evaluate our school. She said that during her appointment last week, she saw that the treatment carts were not clean or safe, and the way they teach classes wasn’t right, with lack of students asking questions. She had complained to the school that they won’t pass the WASC evaluations.
The clinic then ordered and changed to new treatment carts, but the administration, services, and other major issues didn’t improve. Unfortunately, I was unable to attend the WASC meetings, but I’ll probably e-mail them about the issues.
