Terrorist Attack Anniversary

I woke up to hear my landlady/ roommate talking about terrorists hijacking planes to crash into the World Trade Center and Pentagon.  I began hearing the reports on the radio when I started my car on the way to school.  Classes were cancelled since campuses and many public places were closed, and the terrorist attacks were the only thing on the radio all day.  People were calling it Pearl Harbor II.  I just didn’t want to see it on TV, because it was too upsetting.

A friend called to say that he had a relative working near the Twin Towers, so he had been worried.  He asked if I wanted to go over to his apartment, but I had things to do.  Later, I realized how selfish I had been to put my own tasks before his needs, so I stopped by, but he wasn’t home.

Some hackers decided to celebrate the 3rd anniversary of the terrorist attacks by deleting entries from people’s diaries, creating 9/11 on the interent.  It is now the 4th anniversary of the terrorist attacks, and it still seems like yesterday.

People probably see me as selfish for going on with my life right after the attack though the disaster bothered me.  I had also been afraid that people would think I had something to do with it due to my selfishness.  Two days after the attack, September 13, 2001, I caught a cold, which was probably a punishment for that.  To this day, I regret not going to see my friend after he called.

Personal problems bothering me more than the terrorist attacks or other disasters also shows my ego.  For example, recently, I was more affected by school and MB problems instead of Hurricane Katrina and the many other hurricanes this year.  That means I’m only caring about myself and not others, because huge public problems are supposed to bother people more than small problems.

Today, Osama Bin Laden is still not captured or getting what he deserved, which is so unfair.  He and his followers should have tended to all those they hurt and killed, and fix all the damages they caused.  Even better, they should be the ones killed by the hijacking.
