Bush’s 2005 Presidential Inauguration
I think they made too much of a deal over President Bush’s 2005 inauguration, especially since this is his second term. The internet, TV, and other media already had reports about the event preparation for several days, and on January 20, most of the day was spent on holding and covering it. I just didn’t have the time and interest to watch or read about it, especially since politics is not my area.
A second term should not require such a celebration. A speech by the President should be enough. We do not need to waste time, money, and space on parades, parties, and all the elaborate setups. Spending millions of dollars on security was ridiculous. hey should be spending it on more important things for the nation, such as education, health care, environmental protection, and international relations.
The extravagant inauguration also reflects much injustice. President Bush Jr. does not deserve such recognition. His father was a better president, but only served four years. Now, this stupid "spoiled rich kid" gets to serve eight years. Bush Jr. is too much of a religious fanatic and right-wing politician who does not care about the environment. Many of his supporters are arrogant and narrow-minded, which is a bad sign.
Having better things to do, I missed the whole event on TV. I wasn’t going to waste my time watching it.
