“They Have Too Much Time”

My first year in college, there was clique in my hall who lied, played pranks, drank, smoked, invaded privacy, put people down, tried to get people in trouble, and got away with it. They often had mean faces. This was the same for a student who moved into my hall during the second year. At the same time, there were two losers like her: these two went through people’s personal things and played pranks. They especially enjoyed sending condescending and sexual prank messages by phone or e-mail.  All three fat students often watched and looked at pornography.

We often see groups of people, especially skateboarders, hanging outside of stores and restaurants. They often stand in the way of workers and customers. There are also many gangs and criminals on the streets, threatening our existence, especially in downtown.  In junior high and high school, there are many cliques who just bully and cause trouble. They are often truants and do not care about their classes. There are also many clowns and improper people in the world.

At sites where people share their writings or opinions, writers receive unpleasant comments, such as "This is garbage!" from those who disagree, are not interested in the writings, or just enjoy pranks or putting others down.  Some even read back several entries as well as went through the entry or story comments, noting down the smallest details to barge in and attack when people weren’t even communicating with them.

What do all these losers, pranksters, and criminals have in common? They have too much time!

There are so many things to do in the world. If those people have so much time, why don’t they seek out the various forms of entertainment? Maybe causing problems and doing improper things are the only form of entertainment they are interested in.

Many authority figures have too much time as well. Actually, they are irresponsible. Instead of focusing on the important issues and real troublemakers, they boss people around, invade privacy, violate freedom and righs, and go after the innocent people and harmless actions. That is why our society is such a mess.

Instead of chasing and arresting the true criminals, police officers waste their time on harmless aspects, such as minor traffic violations. They bias and lie most of the time.

In high school, the staff got after students who were "weird" or different from the majority, thinking they are "crazy" or have problems. They should have been focusing on the bullies, pranksters, cliques, vandals, and other unpleasant students. In dorms, the staff documented residents’ words and actions. The resident director kept files on every student, and tried to get them in trouble for harmless complaints and mistakes when their real job was to prevent real trouble.  Freedom of speech became violated.

At TheOneRing.Com (TORC), when innocent members make slight mistakes, the moderators (mods) began to stalk them, and get after them for every single mistake they made. They made more and more unfair and unreasonable rules and violated rights, especially the freedom of speech. There were cliques and members who were putting others down, but the mods did nothing about them, and even sided with them. Quite a few of them were on TORC all day. All these terrible authorities just had too much time.

Later, at TaleSpinners Corner, an admin and a member were logged in and posting often, especially love scenes.  While roleplaying, they were mostly writing love scenes and refusing to interact with other members’ characters in terms of friendship.  They were even biased, found things to attack in people’s posts, and made false accusations.

In the past, I’ve had disruptive neighbors, especially at my apartments. These people would yell, scream, and blast their music late into the night, negatively affecting me and others physically. They also had loud parties with other improper people, smoke, drank, and spied on others.

One reason I moved out of my previous residence was because the landlady/roommate was rude, bossy, self-centered, hypocritic, irresponsible, and condescending. She became more and more unfair and unreasonable, and complained more and more, even over things that had nothing to do with her. She often founnd excuses to not go to work, and was always at home, watching TV, talking on the phone, or bossing me around.  Everything I said, she had remaks. She tried to blame everything on me and control my life.  She had too much time, but often did not carry out her responsibilities.

Having too much time usually leads to trouble. Actually, having too much time is often a result of irresponsibility or bad intentions. The unpleasant people chose not to carry out their responsibilites or do what’s important, and focus on the wrong issues, or they choose troublemaking as their hobby. This causes others to see them as having too much time.
