Going Down a Rabbit Hole
On February 29, 2004, Oscar winner Errol Morris stated, "Forty years ago, this country went down a rabbit hole in Vietmanm and millions died. I fear we’re going down a rabbit hole once again… and if people can stop and reflect on some of the ideas and issues in this movie, perhaps I’ve done some damn good here."
Host Billy Crystal replied, I can’t wait for his tax audit."
Morris won Best Documentary Feature for The Fog of War, which is about the Vietnam, War. I agree, and think his statement applies to the corrupt society in general. Our society is declining. We are experiencing more crime, violence, and improper behavior. People are often rude, self-centered, deceitful, and arrogant. It seems as if being bad is the right thing to do, and power wins. Focus is often on the wrong areas: people often concentrate on the harmless and unimportant issues instead of the major serious ones. There is more and more injustice in life.
Actually, Morris should have used manhole… no, to not be sexist, they should change it to personhole…, because I find humans worse than animals. Humans are the only race who will hurt their own species. If animals hurt others, it is because of fear or lack of resources, but humans will even go out of the way to hurt others for no good reason. Unlike humans, animals do not bias and discrimminate. They also do not plot. As I heard someone say, "Humans have to prove themselves to me."
There is so much to write about the corrupt society that it wouldn’t fit in just one entry. That’s why I need to write them into many specific topics and entries. I will often refer to school, living arrangements, online communities, and the police for explanations and examples. I know going against the bad trends will usually put me in danger, but I don’t care. I’m going with what’s right or good, even if it causes my life.
