cozy

Mmm have I ever mentioned how much I love snow? It’s been snowing for approximately 27 hours now, and it is absolutely gorgeous. Very much a winter wonderland that I haven’t had since I lived in Cleveland. We’ll forget for the moment that it’s mid-March and I’d rather wear sandals than boots right now… because it’s just so cozy. The snow is drifting on the window sills and just has everything wrapped in a fluffy white blanket.

Literally it has not stopped even for a minute for 27 hours…

Yesterday at around 10:30am I decided I should head to the grocery store since we had absolutely no food in the house. (I worked from home yesterday in anticipation of this blizzard.) Well thank god I did. It was a little slippery going, but at least we have food. Let me tell you, this city does not know how to cope with even a couple of inches of snow, let alone the 7-8 that I see on the ground at the moment. So leaving the apartment until maybe tomorrow evening is pretty much out of the question, and thus the emergency rush to the grocery store.

This morning we got up and I decided it was just kind of a waffle morning. It was mid-morning, snowy out, cozy in… just seemed like the right thing to do. So I attempted waffles for the second time and they turned out really well! No massive flooding over the edges, no sticking to the top… I really think I’ve got it down now. Mmm and they were gooood. Have you ever had powdered sugar on waffles? It’s admittedly very very bad for me and very very delicious. I heated up the syrup for Chris, but I definitely poured on the powdered sugar on mine. Mmmm.

Now I’m just feeling lazy and comfy on the couch, which is bad for several reasons. I REALLY need to clean this apartment… and I feel like at the very least I should start packing. No we haven’t put an offer on a house yet, but we’re getting pretty close on one. I also need to write those thank-you cards still. I am a horrible person.

Maybe I’ll take some pictures of our blizzard and post them back a little later today. I love it!

Apparently, there’s so much snow in Ohio that they’ve declared a state of emergency.

I don’t think I could handle that much snow. The waffles sound good! I’ve never had homemade waffles before. RYN: It’s nice to have an idea of all kinds of heat. We don’t have an exact place in mind that we’re moving to, so I have no idea what to look for in terms of heat. I don’t even know what kind we have where we are (gas maybe). Thanks and hugs, John

It’s weird to think that you and my family are dealing with insane snowfall and over here it’s freaking 80 degrees outside in a precursor to what promises to be another miserable summer with multiple days over 110. Stupid Phoenix.

RYN: I felt I needed to give a reason for why we’re leaving, since if it wasn’t for my job relocating, I wouldn’t bother. Lots of hugs, John
