I think I’m going with Hillary

After a lot of flip-flopping, getting confused, changing my mind, etc etc… I think I’m going to vote for Hillary tomorrow. (Anyone else think it’s weird that no other candidate has ever gone by their first name? Is this a woman thing?) Really though, I wasn’t thinking that the entire experience argument really had a ton of validity, but the more I read the more I think well, maybe it really does.

A couple factors:

1) Hillary’s resume, so to speak, says a lot more and has a lot more numbers on it. Barack’s is full of hope, but not much substance.

2) I think I’m more comfortable with Hillary’s take on education, and am glad she addresses the arts in her plans. Barack doesn’t really talk much about the arts.

3) After a pretty emotional speech by Ellen the other day about the 15-year-old who was killed by his classmate for being gay, she urged people to look into candidate’s positions. On Barack’s website I a single quote and an article of endorsement from the “Gay City News.” On Hillary’s website I found explicit issues that she will fight for and a list of things she’s already done to support GLBT. She explicitly states that she will fight for civil unions. That in itself is enough to make me vote for her.

4) I’ve struggled with whether I like the idea of going back to a Clinton. Not because I didn’t love Bill – I think he was extremely intelligent and an excellent president – but because of the precedent it sets. However, I’ve decided that two really smart people in the white house who both are already respected internationally might not be such a bad thing for our country right now.

I think Hillary’s campaign was really terrible, but I’m going to try and not hold that against her. I’m going to go for it, I think. I think Hillary’s getting my vote. And I’m pretty stunned to be saying it…

I’m going with Obama because he is the only one that spoke with passion about the mentally ill. Hilary had no clear plan and that was upsetting to me. I thought she would have had more to say to NAMI when she was interviewed by them.

*Ryn* Yes, I did see both of those in fact because I work in the mental health field as an advocate for NAMI as well as being mentally ill myself we were the first mentally ill to be allowed to ask the candidates questions. McCain’s answers devastated me, but even the answers that Hilary gave bummed me out too. I wrote an entry about it back on February 17th and I agree with you on your 4th answerhere in your entry. Clinton was a great president, Hilary isn’t her husband though even though she is intelligent. I just hope McCain doesn’t win.

i’m going for hillary, too. i think experience is very important, and she has all sorts of good experience for this job. i’m very glad she discusses the arts, that’s really important for kids (and everyone, for that matter).
