AND relax…
Well, I’m officially home. Camp was – diverse. 😉 At first I really hated it – by Sunday night I was already exhausted, didn’t like the kids, and knew it was going to be a long week. By yesterday, I was so sad to have to leave my sophomore girls and the fellowship of the other counselors. Despite a few pain-in-the-ass seniors (and a couple of juniors and sophomores), camp was wonderful and I had a blast getting to know the girls staying in my suite. They were so much fun, and I will actually miss them. It’s so nice to know you’ve made a difference in someone’s life… one of the girls, Heather, told Mom that I was her role model, and six of the girls ended up giving me gifts at the end of camp. Who knew that I would love kids (ok maybe they’re not kids anymore) and that they would actually like me???
I had so much fun hanging out with Care (my sister, for those of you who don’t know) and the rest of her string trio, being Jeff and Vince. Jeff and Carrie were counselors in addition to their position on camp faculty – Vince didn’t stay with us, just taught during the day and hung out during meals. At any rate, I haven’t laughed that hard in a long time. They were so much fun, and I never felt like I was the young kid tagging along, or the sister, despite the fact that Carrie is 23, Jeff is 24, and Vince is 27. Mom agreed – said that when she ate with us, no one ever made her feel like the “mom.” We were just all colleagues of sorts, cracking musician jokes and just being crazy. Had a great time, and I hope I can do it again next year.
Alright, must go…
