Tuffy’s run
If you took that abrupt stop as an indication that I just went out and did something with Jeff, you were correct. We went to get food at Tuffy’s.
Alright, several things have been cleared up through the course of my interpreting our conversation. He has a lot of friends here from home, somewhat like myself, but they’re mostly a year older than him. His best friend (a sophomore who lived in Scott Hall last semester) is taking a semester off after his parents died… which is absolutely devastating. This semester, therefore, Jeff doesn’t have him to hang out with, and has begun making friends here. For example, he’s become friends with Dusty, Chris, and now me. Apparently he has no female friends here, which he doesn’t like so much – I’m his first female friend.
Let’s analyze now, since I obviously have already. Jeff has been with his girlfriend for awhile now, since she’s a sophomore in college, thus making them apparently rather serious. Events surrounding Jeff’s friends have left him to find new friends here, and naturally he wants to hang out with the few friends he has (this includes me) rather often. Furthermore, he’s a really cool guy, and he just wants to hang out and get to know people, more specifically girls, and whatever.
Now, after meeting me once, he decided he wanted to hang out with me. Not Meg, not any other girl he might possibly meet in a class or in our building… he decided to get to know me. This required him to ask Alex my name again, look me up in the directory, double check with Alex where I lived, and initiate a friendship. It could be that he just really finds me fascinating and wants to become friends with me. It’s actually rather likely… but for some reason so much effort in such circumstances makes me believe he was at least slightly interested. Who knows, probably not. But he’s really cool, so I’m happy just making a new friend.
*sigh* He’s a math and computer nerd… major is computer science, minor is math… possibly will be a double major instead. So nice… so down to earth… has seen IQ??? And Sneakers… and a plethora of other great movies. He’s addicted to the internet, I think, he played trumpet in band, golfs recreationally a tad… I just don’t see the drinking thing fitting in any way! So frustrating… but meanwhile it’s really fun getting to know a new person – a new set of people for that matter. Dusty and Chris too, although I think they’re less cool that Jeff.
