the results of the “cable preview”

“The End” flashes on the screen. I say, “Well, that was crappy.” On the one hand, that was a waste of a half an hour. On the other hand, it’ll make tomorrow night’s response more entertaining.

I honestly don’t even know how to begin. It just seemed so incorrectly stereotypical in so many ways. The entire show was about sex, basically. A young married couple with three kids were having a “dry spell.” I guess the thing that bothered me was the fact that that was ALL it was about. The guy was incredibly chauvinistic and obsessed with sex. The woman was entirely too cute and trendy to be a mom of three, as well as somewhat of a bitch. All of the fathers of suburbia who are friends with this guy get together and find out that their town has a “porn mom,” which, in short, means that some single mother of this third grade girl has her own porn website. Naturally they all look at it, naturally they all admit they’ve thought about having affairs, naturally all of the men are young, trendy, and blatantly disrespectful. Of course, the show wouldn’t be complete without all of their wives (also all cute, thin, and trendy) watching a baseball game, talking about the “porn mom” who happens to be assistant coach, which means the husbands are all watching her. AHHH. Did I mention the woman has some sort of phone fetish? They all gossip, they all are obsessed with sex, and it’s an insult to just about anyone. Women and men, in my opinion.

So how do I really feel?

While I’ve taken a breath from that small rant, let me take the time to apologize for any sentences or thoughts that just didn’t make any sense. I was a tad, let’s see, ticked off. Things tend to just flow right from my brain to my fingers, occasionally there isn’t a complete connection, and most likely the thoughts are quite jumbled.

Back to my rant. I didn’t enjoy one second of that show! How is that possible? It truly disgusts me how everyone was so stereotypical. They were so physically perfect and so behaviorally imperfect that I simply do not know what to do with myself. Shallow, shallow! (It’ll be interesting to hear their reaction to an 18-year-old ranting over the phone about all of this.) The women, in short, are far from motherly, gossip constantly (or talk about their sex lives), and all either own cell phones or cannot simply let the phone ring when in the middle of another conversation. Mothers do not dress like that or look like that (especially after three kids). Of course there are exceptions, but more likely than not, parents like that will only turn out another Ophelia. The husbands were so irresponsible. It was like one giant slam on the fathers of the world, completely stereotyping them as testosterone-filled, immoral, irresponsible, shallow individuals. The husband’s two fantasies were ridiculous and stereotypical (a common theme?), not to mention demeaning toward the woman in them. It was all so… horrible.

Who writes for these things?!? Who would watch these thigns?!?

🙂 Sounds like TV at it’s best or worst rather. Hard to tell the difference these days. it’s all about money. And that’s the bottom line. Entertaining people is all to fill the coffers of some large corporation which screws it’s employees. Not that I have anything against that… 😉 Thanks for the note. OD is such a great haunt that addiction is not unexpected. 😉
