First Day of School
Weeeelllllllllll… this was my first day as a junior in high school. Yup. I walked into the building only to realize that it felt like I had never left. My friends and I carried out our traditional routine of meeting in the band room and just walking around for awhile before homeroom. And it felt EXACTLY how it did last year. Exactly. The same darn guy was still a volunteer in the attendance office. (I assume that means he wasn’t a senior last year like I thought…) I still walked the same route. Whatever.
Anyway, I went to homeroom and got my locker assignment. Luckily I’m on the end of a row so I get lots of space! (yippee) Homeroom was extended until (we’d originally thought) 7:40. So we left. Only to find out that it was until 7:50. SO we went back. Then at 7:50 our teacher let us go, so I walked upstairs to my science room. I open the door, walk in, and am greeted by a bunch of strange faces I’ve never seen before in my LIFE and a quizzical expression from who I assume is my teacher. (It quite puzzled me to see none of my friends whom I knew were supposed to be in my class…) Then it hit me. I had walked into a homeroom still in session. So I just blurted out the first thing that came to my mind. (That even took a minute or two.) “I think homeroom’s over.” What a dork. She was like, oh, yes, it ends right now… And then the bell rang. (so much for that theory… I guess my homeroom teacher let us out too early) It was then that I noticed a 7th *{10th} grade girl who’s in my sax squad leaving the room. I’m such a loser – I, an upper classman, had walked into a 7th *{10th} grade homeroom and completely made a fool of myself.
That was the perfect start to my junior year. (Oh wait… I forgot… it gets better.) Let me back up. In homeroom we received our ID tags. Yes, that’s right, the stupid little cards with our sophomore pictures on it which are red and must be hung around our necks with a red lanyard. Ooh yippee skippy. We look oh so cool with those fashionable red THINGS hanging there where everyone can see them. Not to mention the fact that they totally get in the way. Ahh well…
It turns out I absolutely love my honors chem teacher. She’s really cool and plays alto sax! (How awesome is that…) She’s so sarcastic that you can’t help but be absolutely relieved that there is a teacher out there who thinks like a student. SO that was mods 1-2-3. Mod 4 I have free in the student center. It’s really nice to have that break.
For mods 5-6, I went to AP US History. Because it’s an AP class, we’re supposed to have about 15 people. Our class has 24. So there was a room FILLED to the max with kids, and our teacher is absolutely mean. I mean… I was scared that the class would be hard, but I’d counted on a nice teacher. Wrong. So who knows with that class. I felt very stupid – like I have no background in history – and very sorry I decided to take it. Oh well, it’ll be good for me I suppose.
MOds 7-8 I ventured to German III. Hehe! My teacher is a riot! She’s the weirdest person I’ve ever met – by far. You have no idea. She has all these rules: no perfume “infestation”, no shorts shorter than mid-thigh (I apparently broke that rule today with the most modest pair of shorts I own…), bare middriffs, spaghetti straps, basically you have to be modest, self control is a biggy with her – forget cracking your knuckles or slamming books down on your desk. She’s an absolute freak – and I love her to death! Unique. I can’t even describe it. I don’t think I seriously stopped laughing the entire 45 minutes. It may be hard, but it’ll be fun!
Then I had band 9-10-11, with lunch 12. I won’t even talk about it, cause I’ve basically had that for a month now.
Mods 13-14 I was off to honors English. I wanted to shoot my teacher. She’s a nut. But an annoying one. See, my german teacher was an amusing nut. My English teacher I just want to help. A lot.
15-16 I went to Pre-Calculus. Math. Last thing in the day. Again. With the same teacher as last year. So basically, I have the same subject with the same teacher at the end of my day as last year, only it’s one more level past what we did last year. In a slightly different room with a mostly different class. (Although 4 of us are from last year’s class.) Which is good and bad, I guess. It just depends on how you look at it. At least Dolly and I already felt at home. While other kids are still unsure of the surroundings and what they can get away with, or even who the teacher is, we just sat at the back laughing and talking the entire time. It was actually kind of fun.
Sooo… the end of the day finally came. And then we had marching band rehearsal a half an hour later. So then we sweated for 2 hours in the hot sun and in our school clothes, on top of which I had to walk home because my mom had to be here while the stupid construction workers FINALLY finished our bathroom. Although it’s still not finished… big surprise.
Just now Jaimie came online and talked to me. It was strange. To top that off, this is what she said right before logging off: “well my work break is over, i just had to email vondran. now i have to get back to work. cindy jess and i saved you a seat at lunch so if ou want to sit with us tomorrow you can”. Riiight. SO what happened to not liking me? Yeah, plus she ignored me in the halls again… So this is my issue. I still am not too fond of her. One conversation is not going to change that. First of all, I’m shocked they saved me a seat. Second of all, why does she think I’d want to sit with them? And third, was she just trying to be nice? If so that’s totally not her. Whatever.

* Ok, so this denotes an editor’s note. In other words, I’m a moron, and when I was reading back in my diary I found that I said 7th when I meant 10th… it’s like I’m still stuck in Jr. High with all the seniors as freshman and all the scrophs as 7th graders… wow. Today is 9/30/00.

Did you start on another day than Monday, because I’m writing this on early Sunday and it is too difficult for my head to understand where in the world you live.
