Time vs. Fate – a little Philosophy

Ok, supposing you tell me you are about to say “hello”. This means in the future, you are going to say “hello”. By the time you say “hello”, it is the present, not the future. Therefore the future is the present. During the moment you say “hello”, it has immediately become the past. Therefore the present is the past. If the future is the present, and the present is the past, then the future is the past. Does it therefore mean that the past is the future? In this case, all time is equal to itself, and therefore does not exist.

In the book “A Wrinkle in Time”, you can “time travel” by simply “wrinkling” time in a semi-fifth/sixth dimension of existence. Taking that “line” of space, you merely form a wrinkle in that so that the distance is not quite as large. ———— is longer than ///// if you begin with the same piece of string and calculate the distance from one END to the next “as the crow flies” type of deal, right? That’s the basis for each of the books in the series. But, if there is no time, the wrinkle is actually in the picture (instead of a line of time) and therefore more plausible than wrinkling something such as our perception of “time”. It’s really very easy to take a picture or piece of paper and wrinkle it. Then again that sounds very illogical… one of those stupid thoughts I get all of a sudden.

Also, I have major issues with saying there is no time. If there isn’t time, then basically everything is the “present” in our terms… (so to speak). In this case I could say the following: I am being born. I am speaking, running, walking, playing piano, writing, sitting, dying, dead, unborn… all at once. Right?

But does that seal fate?

I don’t believe in most parts of fate… depending on how you define it. I’ve always believe you’re at least somewhat in control of your life. Perhaps you are “destined” to fall in love with one person, or perhaps there are several people you COULD fall in love with, and you only meet one… (if any). But I don’t believe the time or place is pre-arranged… it would be very strange. However, if I do not believe in fate, how can I believe that, instead of time, existence is simply in a picture, or tree, or however you choose to describe it? If we simply measure our existence using time, doesn’t that seal fate by default?

I’m still struggling with this one… I always will be most likely.
