“You’ve Got Mail”

Because I’ve had time today, I was channel surfing in time to catch most of “You’ve Got Mail”, a movie that anyone online should have seen. Well, if you haven’t, GO RENT IT! It’s one of my favorite movies. It combines my reality with my dreams.

It talks about how email can be so, well powerful. One my favorite lines goes something like this: “The thing about the internet is that you’re more likely to talk about nothing than something. But I just wanted you to know that all of these nothings have meant more than so many… somethings.” It’s so true. If you’ve ever written one of those immensely long emails (which I’m sure all of you have done if you take the time to write in a cyber diary) to a good friend, you’ll realize how it’s so possible to ramble on with random thoughts. Sometimes you can clear so much up by just talking about the little nothings and somethings that no one will take the time out to think through or talk through.

It’s also about the magic of books to an extent, which is something I can completely relate to. When the shop is closing, a lady tells her experience with (Meg Ryan’s)mother. She explains how when she bought “Anne of Green Gables” (GREAT BOOK) she was told to “read it with a box of kleenex”. I love that line. It’s so true… books can simply touch your heart and take you to an imaginary place that is sometimes perfect and sometimes not so perfect. *sigh*

I also love how it has a perfect ending – it’s just so romantic in a simple way. Two people who began as enemies can learn to love each other.

Anway, perhaps you think I am way too sentimental, but why not? The movie is such a good one… I just relate to it soo well.
