Weekend At A Glance

Sunday afternoon. Ahh, it feels good to finally get comfortable. My friends hubby came over and fixed my leaking commode. (oh my aching water bill) He is a plumber by trade, but he’s not real keen on fixin up. He’s an installer. One of those union prima donnas. I felt obliged to make myself presentable. You know . . . . lose the pj’s and (oh the discomfort of it all) put on a bra. But it’s SUNDAY! Grrrr.
Well, it’s done and over. Almost painless, and true to his nature, he wouldn’t even let me pay for parts. Alright! I take back all the bad things I’ve ever said about him, but…. OK! Zzzzip.

Yesterday was a very special day. My adopted granddaughter turned 5. We drove 2 hours to get to Ella’s Deli in Madison. I’ve been going on and off to this place for probably 20 years now, but it’s ever more special when you can actually bring a child. As you can see by the group picture, there were officially three children. Unofficially, I count fourteen, including myself behind the camera. I thought maybe the carousel ride would be turned off for the season. I’m glad they were still giving rides. I even hopped on!

We ate lunch there, and after opening gifts, staff brought out this HUGE 15 person sundae, singing happy birthday and blowing kazoos. Is that a sundae or what?! Everybody dug in (with individual serving dishes) and believe it or not, there wasn’t much for leftovers. It was a fun day from beginning to end.

Earlier in the day, I was sent a link to a website that offered 100 of the greatest pop songs from 1963 to present. I didn’t see too much from the 60’s actually. I downloaded almost all of them and quickly made CDs to take along for the ride. On the way back home, we decided to try them out. In our van, ages ranged from 26-53. Most of the tunes were ones that all of us knew. Even the guys sang along. Ok, remember the song from “Saturday Night At The Roxbury?” It starts out…. What is Love? Well, the guys didn’t bob their heads, but WE did. Right on cue. 🙂 I can’t remember the last time I’ve said this, but the night didn’t last long enough. I could have rode to the moon and back, just singing songs, laughing and having fun with good people.

Shows what a popster I must be – I have about 90% of the top 100 on either vinyl, tape, cd, or MP3. Heh.

what an awesome day for the kids & the adults. I think we all need days like that where we are just relaxed & having fun & being silly. A good old fashioned sing along. Happy birthday to the birthday girl.

ryn: I loved it that you said you always wonder what use you might make of something before throwing it away. That’s because you’re a creative person! I used to think I was creative too and that was my reason for saving everything. I better hurry up and create something before I get buried in all this stuff. Hugs,

Hi BBe, I hope all is well there. You haven’t written for a while. Being tagged is an easy way to write a quick entry & to share a bit about yourself. Share 5 random &/or weird facts about yourself. You’ve been tagged. If you’ve already been tagged tell me where to find your entry, I’m curious of course. If you’re not playing that’s fine, I know time is precious. Mine answers on in entry 11-29

ryn: You’re not going to believe this or maybe you will…but I almost added Bruce Willis in there too but thought…oh man, they’re already going to think I’m strange because of Costner and Fuhrman…if I throw in another one they’ll think I’ve lost it. I love his voice as well! how are you? how was thanksgiving? what’d you do? those boys straighten up or you need me to come kick some butt? 😉
