Considerations
These are the things that I’ve seriously considered today:
1. Drastically reducing any inheritance to either of my 2 boys
2. An antidepressant
3. Moving to Mexico
4. Quitting my job to go on welfare
5. Kicking somebody’s (intellectual) ass
6. Hardening my heart
Well, that’s the major 6.
To a lesser degree, I’ve also considered adopting another 2 or 3 dogs, and painting all of the interior walls pink. That would work well with #1 & 2, but not practical for #3 or 4.
I think my best bet is #6.
*Reminder to self – You can be “there” for someone until the cows come home. That doesn’t mean anyone will be there for you if or when. It’s called self-absorbtion.
So STOP getting your hopes up. You say you don’t, but you do.
And now for a song that I’m liking very much tonight.
It’s by Solomon Burke.
Here are a few lines:
If I fall short, if I don’t make the grade
If your expectations aren’t met in me today
There is always tomorrow, or tomorrow night
Hang in there baby, sooner or later
I know ill get it right,
Please, don’t give up on me
Oh please don’t give up on me
I know its late, late in the game
But my feelings, my true feelings
Haven’t changed
Here in my heart
I cannot imagine any other artist singing this song. Look up the word Soul in the dictionary. His name should be highlighted.
If you’d like to try it out, here is a download link to the MP3….

Can I come visit in Mexico? I read this earlier and fell back in my chair like someone was slapping me on the head. What in the world?

Sorry you’ve been hurt enough to consider hardening your heart. I can’t imagine you accomplishing that one though. Learning to expect nothing from anyone seems to be the secret. I never figured it out so I just keep to myself. But, I don’t have kids. That must be a whole nother story. Love you,

Yes, lets al do that and get even with Mexico for the illegals.

lowering expectations is hard esspecially between parent/child. No good answers here but I hope they get better and hope your heart quits hurting sooner rather than later. Mexico sounds good to me too! 😉

I hope the world is a brighter place for you today than it was the day you wrote this entry. I know there are days when the day & life look drab & dreary. I pray you are lifted on angels wings to a higher better brighter place.
