December 22nd marks Winter Solstice.  Here, for me,  unofficially it started today.  With temperatures in the high 20’s, we have a bone chilling wind that will cut right through your winter wear.  Each of us deals with this kind of weather in their own way.
Denial works well for me
in most cases.

Sunday seems to be laundry day the last couple of months.  I hate to get into any sort of routine.  Next week I’ll shoot for Saturday.

…..

I called Annie to see if she wanted to go to BigLots looking for Christmas decorations that neither of us needs.  She’s not answering right now, so I’ll put my first load in the washer.

 …..

Instead of the usual toast or somesuch fast food, I made scrambled eggs with chunks of ham and cheddar cheese.  The dogs and I loved it.  Guess who got most of the ham?

 …..

Last night I made potato soup and put chunks of ham in it.  Guess who bought a large ham and has now had her fill?

 …..

Justin is coming over later today.  I cleaned out the refrigerator in honor of his visit, and will be giving him all leftovers, INCLUDING the rest of that ham.  (kept enough soup for one serving during tomorrow’s 12-hours of servitude)

…..

Wednesday, I took my uncle for his Friday haircut (don’t ask) and then we did his grocery shopping.  We talked about this and that.  I worry about him, as it seems he’s slowly deteriorating mentally, and he doesn’t have a clue.  We have an appointment to see a neurologist (again) and I hope this time he does not cancel.  I need to know what it is that’s going on in his head, aside from the obvious paranoia.

 …..

Thursday, Annie and I went to Appleton where Jarad is now working and residing.  I had not visited his office yet, so we picked up a beautiful variegated  poinsettia as a belated office gift.  We took him out for lunch, and then did a little shopping afterwards.  I dropped her off, but that wasn’t the end of the day.  Later in the evening she called and asked if I would like to come over and try out her hot tub.  Why  not?  I drove over to her house in my one piece plush/plaid blanket pajama, flipflops, and a sun visor,  (keep in mind it’s pitch dark)  daring any copper to stop me for improper seasonal attire.  Oh yeah, and an old bathing suit underneath.   We each had a glass of wine, and yacked about anything and nothing.   If you can imagine, the rain only added to the fun.  (seriously)  The only down side was getting out in the 30-something degree cold and driving home.

 …..

Friday I had company, and later in the evening we went out for dinner.  Afterwards, went to a pub.  We played darts and fooseball.  I couldn’t believe after all this time, I can still hold my own.   It felt good to “play” again.

Before finishing this entry Annie called back.  We braved the cold winds, went to BigLots, (I love 50% off sales) and even had a bite to eat.  NOW I’m done.  🙂  Oh wait ….. the laundry.  Crap.
