Shanghied

So, it all started because I didn’t want to go home when I got off of work, so I figured I’d go to the bank and pull a little money out of my business account for dinner… I’d make it a business dinner. So I got a notebook and a pen and went to my favorite Thai restaurant and started writing down a list of things I’ll need for inventory so I can figure out what kind of rings I’ll need to buy next.  I know… I just got my big shipment and I shouldn’t be planning on what to buy next, but there’s always stuff I need and stuff I’m running out of.  But I was sitting there when my fresh roll came and the people at the table next to mine commented on how much they liked the food and I asked if one of the ladies (There were two older ladies, two older men, and a guy my age) if she ever had one before.  Her husband said that he hasn’t tried it, and she told me that he had.  The guy my age asked if I was waiting for someone, and when I admitted that I was alone, he invited me to sit with them.

So I did.  and I had a wonderful conversation with some interesting people (One guy, John, used to be in the SCA, and the other guy, Dusty, was a woodworker who was actually being commissioned by monks to build a stand and case).  We talked about shows and going to craft fairs and bazaars and I told them about Duck the Malls and we talked about that and Olympia Street Market and about the SCA and all the other fun stuff going on around.

They asked about my maile and I pulled out my to-go box to show them what I was working on, and ended up showing them the earrings that I had just finished (picture two entries ago) and a bracelet that I hadn’t yet put the clasp on yet.  The ladies loved them, and bought both.  To the point that I had to have my mom bring a clasp and my business card (I’ll have to put more in my box) so I could finish the bracelet for the lady.

Not only did they buy my stock, but they also paid for my dinner and gave me some much needed company.  It was a wonderful time and I came home to Momma being in a good mood, Christmas presents from Catrina (socks!) and Court being in a good mood too.

So now I’m talking with Bonnie and Raliel and Steve and while I’m cold, I’m in a great mood.
