Computers Go Down, Woo Woo!
Today should be a fun day to audit when it comes time for that.
The computer system was down all day at work. Apparently the directory crashed, or something like that. All I know is that I didn’t have access to anything on the network for the whole day, which meant I got to do a lot of piddly non-entry things. Which is nice because it means that I’ll be able to actually get some of the shit off of my desk. Woo!
Krystal came over to my desk today when the other two auditors (Brenda and Melissa) who were there today were off on lunch or break or something, and she told me that she was sorry for not sticking up for me more in the meeting but that she has to choose the battles she wants to fight. And that was not only an unimportant battle, but one she really couldn’t win at that point in time. She did say that the reasoning that the other two had was totally crap and that she’d stand behind me. It made me feel a little better knowing that I’m not out in left field all by myself.
Out of respect I told her that I was going to be looking into taking some time off via medical leave. She told me to do whatever I need to do for me, especially when I explained to her that I wasn’t sleeping well and that I’ve been… well… it’s just been bad, as my dear readers can gleam. She told me not to bother worrying about my workload while I’m gone, and to take as much time as the doc thinks I need in order to get myself back on track. I really like her. She also told me to remember that this isn’t the only job out there, and that I don’t have to stay with it forever. In fact, she mentioned that she wasn’t going to be staying forever, specially with all the shit that’s going on. I think she’s seeing a lot of the things that I’ve had to deal with since Deb went on medical leave.
I did talk to Jen about possibly spending some days next week with her, and she’s cool with it. I’m thinking about coming into Portland either Tuesday or Wednesday and then possibly staying till Friday morning. Jen has Thursday – Saturday, and that gives me a couple days with her and a couple days of just me wandering around or working on my story.
I’m on page 90 of my editing. It’s going faster, but I don’t know if that’s because I’m not putting as much "umph" into it, or if it’s because it’s actually a decent story. ::laughs:: Probably the former. I should head to bed. I might take a hot bath first.
It’s the 2nd. I want to get all the way through editing my novel by the 20th, and that’d give me 8 days to type it up before having to restart on it for NaNoEdMo. I don’t know if I’ll be able to stomach working on it for a third draft so close to the second… but I feel like a heel getting off track with it. ::frowny face::
Thank you for the welcome message.
