News and Pictures

So this morning I found out I am an uncle! My youngest sister was due on June 10, but they found she had pre-eclampsia at her appointment this week and took her into hospital on Wednesday, and started to induce her on Thurs night. Bella Jane was born this morning around 6.30. We will have to wait until tomorrow to go and see her because Kati is working today.

Its quite funny really, my sisters relationship with her boyfriend started out similar to mine and Kati’s. They met on the internet and they got pregnant very early. I think for us though it was possibly different because I am a man for one, and Kati was not my first girlfriend. For my sister, being a woman and the one who was actually pregnant, and that he is her first real relationship, it was frowned upon by some of the family. I never really had any issue with the events that have happened (I would be quite the hipocrite if I did!), but I have had a bad feeling about him from the start for some reason. He is just a very quiet guy, he is in his 30’s (not sure exactly how old, prob early 30’s though) and she is 24, and he just seems to be a bit of an asshole with her on the odd time I have overheard them arguing or what have you. Not to mention that she would go to bed at whatever time at night, then he would basically stay up all night and go to bed early morning around the time she would get up for a while there. All just seemed very strange to me, and I didnt really trust him. He is quite secretive and does some dodgy things, like he wont open a bank account, he just uses my sisters one for his pay. Also, because of my sisters blood type, she had to get these injections throughout the pregnancy for her and baby because they didnt know what type of blood type he was. I mean, all it takes would be ONE blood test from him to save his pregnant girlfriend from numerous injections on top of everything else she has to go through during a pregnancy. I am someone who HATES needles, I avoid it at all costs, but I would take a blood test for Kati in a heartbeat if I was in that same position. There’s just too many weird things going on there with him. I just hope I am wrong about him and he ends up being a good guy, now that there is a baby involved he better get his act together. Unfortunately both of them are VERY lazy people, so I think this is going ot be a real challenge for them, and the way I see it, 1 of 2 things will happen – either they will grow up and get their act together, or they wont really change and they will find parenting a real challenge and the baby will probably suffer for it. I really do hope it is the former.

That said, I do think I have seen some change in him and that he is trying to do what he can for my sister, which is a good thing. He does seem to be good with River too, I can tell he likes kids, but I cant say I would feel confident leaving River alone with him, I just dont have that trust for him yet (I dont know that I ever will, but hopefully he will prove to me he is trustworthy somehow). I just think that my sister is a bit naieve and if he were to leave her she wouldnt know what to do. Anyway, at the end of the day it is their lives, and they are the ones who have to be happy.

I thought I would put some pictures up, now that River is 18 months (She was born 05 November 2008) to document her journey and change over the months. Im going to put one picture from each month since she was born (although I will probably cheat and put more than 1 for some months!), I think it is cool to see how much she has changed that way 🙂

Enjoy!
