Semi-perfect
I was walking down Queens Blvd yesterday and i see 2 twin girls, probably about 14-15, dressed to please their mom – exactly alike (and you wonder why so many identical twins have an ‘identical crisis’: moms that dress their twins like Barbie dolls should be made to live in a haunted doll house with furniture half their size and a wardrobe full of Barbie clothes twice their size).
Black mini-skirts, tight beige t-shirts with "perfect" inscribed on the back in small black eager-to-please letters, long black ponytails of equal length and an overall sense of cheerful acceptance of their supporting role in the general twinity of things happily bouncing along in tow
Typical New Yorker _C immediately gets distracted by some delivery biker trying to run him down or a flyer being shoved into his hand or something and forgets all about them…

…
until this morning.
Crossing Queens Blvd again today there they were, exactly where I saw them last, 2 twin girls about 74-75 years old, both wearing unsightly light green flowered cotton dresses, white caps, sandals and holding a bottle of pure Poland spring water each. Only mom wasn’t anywhere to be seen this time. I looked around and sure enough the overall sense of acceptance of their supporting role in the general twinity of things was there too, slightly bent and wrinkled but as cheerful as it was the day before.
and i think to myself, time flies faster than bad-news after all.
they were 14 only yesterday
Hahaha I love it. Though it could be worse. They could have been wearing the sweatpants that have words on the ass. Very unappealing. They probably had half a dozen pairs of those at home anyway. The twins of yesteryear, I mean. Hopefully not the old ones.

It’s all a matter of perception, I guess. 60 years could easily pass by in a day, in a month.
