Well, At Least I Tried… :-(

Well, I logged in at about 12:55.  Got onto TicketMaster
and, with my husband’s coaching, kept refreshing the page with the
Springsteen tickets until his went on sale at 1:00.  I plugged in
my request for 1… mind you… only one stinkin’ premium ticket… and
they were all sold out… so I plugged in my request for just one any
kind of ticket… again, all sold out and it was just 1:01!!!  My
husband said to keep trying anyway because sometimes they’ll come up —
‘cuz you know people will review and reject the seats.   Sure
enough, a seat waaaaay in the back of the balcony — far far… pasted
to the ceiling came up costing the premium price of $85 dollars.
If I used that language, I would have said f*ck it, but I don’t, (still
I THOUGHT it), and I said, “Forget it.  I’m NOT paying $85 to sit
up there.  It’s just not worth it!”  And that was that.

My husband did say that if you call the Will Call box office on the day
of the show, sometimes they have one random seat because people get
sick or whatever.  I may do that and, if there’s a good seat
somewhere, THEN I’ll go — otherwise, I’ll be fine with out my friend,
Bruce.  I won’t feel too badly about missing the concert because
at least it won’t be because I gave it up voluntarily.  I DID pray
first saying, “God, if I’m not supposed to go then don’t give me good
seats.” So I guess this was His answer.

I don’t go to many concerts any more.  I used to go to alot but
there just all too expensive now for the amount of enjoyment I get from
them.  And, as I’ve gotten older, the enjoyment level has
plummeted since I don’t smoke anymore and the smoke bothers me.  I
get tired out more easily and I’ve never really like crowds.
Worst of all, I hate spending so much money.  Concerts used to be
so much more affordable and we were able to get good seats for a
reasonable price.  When we saw Springsteen the first time, we had
awesome seats and I think we paid maybe $40 a pop for them and some
small service fee.  Now Ticketmaster (which sucks, by the way)
wanted to put a $10+ service fee on top of the already ridiculous price
of $85.  I almost feel embarassed to be supporting an artist so
greedy he would charge that much for a ticket when I know, instead, I
should be donating it to the continuing suffering of the tsunami
victims and I definately feel hideous supporting a reprehensible
business like Ticketmaster.  Yuck!!!!

have u donated anything to the tsunami victims? i made a charity thingy selling lemonade and popcorn w/ friends….. and we made quiet a lot for a lil lemonade stand…… lol ttyl!

I always wonder where the balance is… I mean… should I buy that skirt or should I give the money to charity? Should I wear clothes or have possessions at all? How do we know when something is okay and when its over indulgent? Are christians allowe dto indulge themselves or is it all about sacrifice? I think one concert now and then is okay.. and a skirt here or there is okay too…..

Then again I gues sit depends on the person and the frequency and the motivations behind the actions. Im a little sad that you are not going, but who knows, maybe there is a better treat for you coming up around the corner?? **smiles**

I’ve never been to a concert before.

I agree tickets to concerts are really expensive and then ticketmaster charges almost as much because they have the priviledge to sell them
