The Problem is…

When there’s nothing going on much, there’s time to write.  When something interesting is happening, you’re too busy to write 🙂   Anyway, several things have happened over the past few days that I definately wanted to keep track of.  First and foremost, we went to my son’s highschool radio class/station banquet last night.  It’s so great to see him involved in something scholastic for a change!!!  Power Rangers, Pokemon, Yugio, ICP, drums, WWE, and Roller Coasters have all been his passions throughout various ages as he’s grown (with a deep love of rock music, especially classic rock), but now there’s something that he can actually be passionate about at school… radio.

He does a little radio show with a friend on Saturday mornings and he’s really gotten into it.  He’s learned a bundle and made himself a part of the radio “bunkies.”  (I don’t know why they’re called “bunkies.” Maybe that’s a name the teacher made up for them.)  Anyway, she seems to be a great teacher and it appears that her students just adore her.  Unfortunately she’s retiring this year, BUT one of her former students has come back to take on her position, so things should go well for my boy.  My son is smart, pretty charming, not bad looking, but he can be extremely lazy and extremely stubborn and can give up on things if he gets frustrated.  I’m hoping that this teacher will be able to coax the best out of him as well as some of his other teachers have been doing this past year.  He is in the BEST highschool.  If my husband, myself, or my youngest daughter had gone to this school, our lives might have been completely different.  (My oldest daughter did great at school, went to college, and now is waitressing — go figure.)  Anyway, I pray that these highschool days will have a very positive impact on my son’s future.  We moved to this suburb because I worked with a girl at Starbucks who went to this school.  She had sort of a unique personality, like my son’s; not the kind of person you could meet everywhere.  She gave the school rave reviews and told me it was reputed to be one of the best in the country!  When I went condo-shopping, that was the most important factor considered other than price constraints (second was the ability to own a dog).

So, anyway, the best part is that all the kids at the banquet got an award.  My son got, “Most Outstanding Freshman Air Personality.”  I was happy about that.  She had him pegged.  He definately IS a personality LOL.  He has a lot of fun on the radio.  He’s pretty smooth and obviously enjoys doing his show.  He takes a lot of time with his playlist and does various reviews as well as a commentary about the WWE called, “The Squared Circle.”  He even recorded a slick opening for the show.  I’m really happy about all of this.
