4 months to learn German…

Just found out today that I’m leaving for Germany in October and staying for about a week or so.  My dad’s going for work and I get to tag along since it’s technically my 21st birthday present even though I’ll be 22 by then.  My parents are so busy we never got to do anything this year, so they figured they’d pay for me to go along with my Dad sort of as a "hey happy birthday/oh and happy birthday last year too" kind of thing.  I don’t care…whatever gets me outta here and in Europe is a-ok with me!

I’ve never been out of the U.S. (other than Mexico but that doesn’t really count does it?) and Germany isn’t really my first choice of places to visit over there because I absolutely can’t stand the language….the sound of it just sounds like nails on a chalkboard to me.  BUT I’m sucking it up and going to have my boyfriend teach me whatever he remembers from 3 years of classes so that I at least sort of know what’s going on over there.  I’ve heard the countryside is beautiful over there and I can’t wait for the scenery.  A past roommate of mine served as an au pair for the summer for  a family she knew, and the pictures she brought back were absolutely gorgeous.

The countdown has begun and October can’t get here soon enough!
