Warning: Pretty Mundane Entry Coming

Tots was very bossy today.  He kept pointing to a room he wanted to me to go with him to, "Come.  Come room?"  If I didn’t respond immediately, he would try to push me in that direction.  While I was washing some dishes, I told him that I would be in in a moment, when I was done with a pair of items.  He yelled, "WHYYYYYY?" and stomped his little foot.  Part of me feels like it’s kind of cute how he’s making his wants and opinions of his own and part of me is screaming in my head, "WHYYYYY?"  Well, I know why, he’s two.  But I keep calm and stay patient.  If I don’t, I’m not setting a good example, but it is definitely trying.

I made some cookies today.  We don’t tend to go through a lot of peanut butter, even though we get a jar every month with the WIC check.  Tots just doesn’t really like it, and Pi and I don’t really eat a lot of peanut butter either.  I’ve been trying to get more of it into Tots’s diet.  I found a recipe for flourless peanut butter cookies on allrecipes.com.  It’s really simple: 1 cup each of peanut butter and sugar and one egg.  Whoever put the recipe up said that it didn’t make a lot of cookies, so doubling is recommended.  I read some of the comments and a few people wrote that they used some brown sugar in there or some vanilla extract.

My recipe was a little more complicated.  I used one cup of peanut butter, 1/3 cup of brown sugar, 2/3 cup of sugar, a splash of vanilla and a big handful of Reese’s peanut butter chips.  Oh yeah, and a dash of cinnamon.  (Whenever I bake or cook, I have a tendency to ask myself, "What else could we throw in there?")  They turned out pretty good.  Tots took one bite out of two of them. He then proceeded to throw them from room to room, or at least he tried.  Pi said they were good for being peanut butter cookies.  I think I ate three.

Later, Tots saw his toothbrush sitting on the microwave.  He pointed to it and said, "Elmo."  I thought he was going to ask me to watch a few Sesame Street videos, but instead, he wanted to brush his teeth.  He went and got his chair that he likes to stand on and brought it into the bathroom, so he could stand at the sink.  He brushed his teeth a little bit for a moment.  Then he put his brush down on the counter and pointed to the faucet.  "Wash?  Soapy?" he said.  So he washed his hands.  Then he got off of his chair, declared, "All done," and walked out of the bathroom.  I just thought it was cute.

Actually, that entry was pretty awesome. Kids are always so surprising in what they want. Who knew that the bossy 2 year old would take to brushing his teeth like this?

I love your kid stories, and the food? Always makes me want to eat!
