Lucked Out Again
Last week when we got all that snow, I thought I was going to have to walk home from work after midnight. A coworker brought me home instead, which was a lifesaver.
This week, I had to walk to work because we already had snow and freezing rain by the time I had to leave. Pi’s car has the worst tires, so we didn’t want to take it out. Also, Mom was working, so even if we wanted to try it, we couldn’t leave Tots with her. All in all, it was better that I walk for everybody.
I got a couple of houses down the street when I saw a work friend of mine’s mom. I stopped to say hello, and to ask her how she, her daughter and her grandson were. Everybody is doing well. The grandson is one now. How the time passes. My friend is good and living with her aunt and grandfather. After a minute or two, she asked me where I was headed. When I told her work, she offered me a ride. I told her if it was a bother, not to worry, but she insisted.
It was nice to chat with her on the way. I told her that I graduated with her son, which she didn’t know. She told me about how her grandson isn’t quite walking yet, but my friend didn’t walk at that age, so there was no worry. By the point, we were there. I thanked her again and said goodbye. I made it right on time. I can’t imagine how late I would have been trying to walk down the mostly un-shoveled sidewalks.
Work was really slow, but it seemed to go by pretty fast. It was just Sparkley and me the whole night. There’s nothing else to report there.
When it was time for me to start my walk home, Baker was just arriving to work. I didn’t really want to ask him to bring me home, but I did anyway. He said it was no problem. I lucked out again!
The walk home would have stunk. I’m now happily home with Pi, and when I got here, Tots was already asleep in bed.
Aaaah. Nice.
Good to be surrounded with helpful people. eh? That’s a blessing in itself!
