Little Achievements

Today, I made it to the dump right before they closed.  There is nothing worse than loading up smelly garbage, having to drive with smelly garbage in the car, and then having to drive all the way back home with the smelly garbage.  I also got rid of a big box of recyclables.  I want everything gone.

On the way back, I stopped at work for a shot of espresso and a juice.  Boss was leaving, and he told me that Ivy was going to be late.  Basically, there were only going to be three people on until she got there, and they are not the leader types.  I ended up getting stuck there for about half an hour, just trying to help them through the rush, not even punched in.  I didn’t mind, because I know how valuable it is to have some extra hands.  After the rush, I went home, changed and came back to help them.  All in all, I got about two and a half extra hours, which is really going to help with Christmas, Tots’s birthday party, and life in general.

After I got home, I cleaned the kitchen floor.  It needed it badly.  I even wiped down all the lower cabinets, removing all the drips and stains and what have you.  The handle that Tots uses to get in and out of his little chair was covered in pasta sauce, tomato seeds, and whatever else he gets on his hands.  I didn’t even notice it until today.  I wiped down all the baseboards underneath the cabinets, too.  The lower half of my kitchen looks great!  Don’t even look at the upper half, yikes!

I’m feeling pretty good about all the little improvements and myself for doing the improving.  It feels good to get all those little things done.

That’s it for today.  Time to watch this weeks episode of Hell’s Kitchen.

Good for you! I never realized all that went into having a nice home was until was home with kids. We don’t have the best or most consistent role models in our family, I’m afraid. Then add what busy lives we lead into the mix and it’s tough to keep up with everything. I’m glad you got paid. I was gonna get all mama bear and tell you to get that manager to sign off on that half hour, butI’m assuming since you went back you took care of it already. Who had Tots?

Isn’t it amazing how disgusting the kitchen can get from all the little drips and stuff? I don’t usually “see” that, and I have to make a conscious effort to clean it periodically! Glad you did get some pay time in. I think that worked out. I remember when Ponytail talked about getting to the dump too late and carrying the garbage around in his truck for some ridiculous amount of time! I feel so grateful that all I have to do is drag my can to the curb once a week!
