[relaxed]
I am on Spring Break from school, which means that I have spent plenty of time relaxing this weekend. Yesterday I did a fair bit of housework, then sat on the couch in the sun and read for ages. Last night Greg was home, and we played video games, then watched a movie. Today I did some more housework, grocery shopped, played in the yard with the dogs, watched a movie, read some more, and am now here, studying in bits and pieces.
I just (finally) finished the book “The Lost Dogs” by Jim Gorant. It’s about the dogs that were pulled from Michael Vick’s operation. Terribly tragic story, but some truly amazing endings for the dogs. They took 51 dogs from his property. Many have gone on to become family pets, therapy dogs, and wonderful animals. They couldn’t save them all, of course, and some will never live outside of Best Friends animal shelter. But overall what they were able to do was amazing. This cause rings in my heart, and someday when I have some time I would love to be involved in dog rescue in some fashion.
Our anniversary is in three short days. How the time flies. It is our eighth wedding anniversary, and our tenth anniversary of being together. A whole decade. It sounds so huge. We have simple plans – out to dinner, maybe a movie, or whatever strikes our fancy. I’m toying with the idea of taking the afternoon off. We will see how the workday goes.
We have come up with a short list of things we would like to do this year, and are hoping to cram them all in to the summer/fall. So far we’ve gone to the International Auto Show (January) and Monster Jam (March). Monster Jam was so much fun! Monster trucks running stuff over and doing huge jumps. Greg smiles at how much I enjoyed it (it was my idea to go). We went out to dinner beforehand, and then got dessert on the way home. It was a great evening 🙂
The other things on our list are: see a Detroit Lions (football) game, visit the Detroit Zoo, go to the Detroit Institure of Art. We have never done any of these things together. We have seen Detroit’s hockey (Red Wings), basketball (Pistons), and baseball (Tigers) teams play, but never been to a football game together. Greg has been before, and I haven’t. So that is planned for this fall. I have also never been to the Detroit Zoo (though I have been to the zoo in Toledo, Ohio several times, a few with Greg). The Detroit Institute of Art is an art museum. I went once about nine years ago, and would love to go back, and Greg has agreed to go with me.
On top of that, we are planning our regular camping escapades, many weekends out on the boat, and possibly a trip to the Upper Peninsula to see the sights up there. I have a feeling it’s going to be a great summer!
Ok, off for more relaxing!
