What’s the deal?

So of course little excited me has to tell everyone that we are planning a trip somewhere. The bad part of that is people putting the idea down. My best friend says it’s cause people are jealous, but is that the case? Or are they looking out for us?

I do get sick of people trying to tell us what to do, and Paul’s step-mom tries ALL the time. Today I called her to ask if we were still on for her to watch Madison on Monday and Tuesday. I told her I just got done working 52 hours (that’s for 2 weeks) and that I will have to work a full week straight coming up and starting on Sunday. She asks "what are you doing with the extra money" then I say "Putting it away for our vacation" then she says "You should really save up to buy a house" she KNEW we were planning this trip to Hawaii, we have told her and Ron about it. So then I say "We will do that too but right now we don’t know when we will get a chance to do a trip again and we figure that we will go on a vacation before we deal with the stress of buying a house" then she didn’t say anything but you know going on a trip and saving for that is SO much easier of a goal to reach than to reach the goal of buying a house. We would have to have low payments (what we are making now) and we will need a lot of money for that.

Besides you have to live in the moment and if we save and nothing happens to Paul’s job (knock on wood) then we did all that saving for what? And then we miss out on the trip of a lifetime. I know Madison won’t remember it but we will have TONS of pictures and at least she can say she went there.

Just venting cause it’s hard when people put things down that your working hard to reach. Besides we have never been on a real vacation before… visiting family doesn’t count!!!

A vacation sounds great, and it’s your money, so I would ignore other people’s ideas 🙂

I agree with dream*catcher! You and your hubby work hard to earn the money, and I belive it’s up to you guys how you would like to spend it! Besides, you shouldn’t have to justify to everyone why you need/want a vacation! Do it, and have a great time doing it! =o)

You most certainly should take a trip!!! When else are you going to have this chance?! Yes, economy is bad and people should be saving money, but that doesn’t mean that we have to stop living our lives! Bryan and I are taking a trip to Florida in a month, just planned and bought tickets last week! We could save the money, but the memories and experience will be worth it. 🙂 -Renee

meh, the only reason people would complain about how you spend your money is because they don’t have money to spend in the same fashion 😉 I think it’s great you’re getting a vacation!
