The Hum Drum Life

Today was a wild and blustery day at work. Woke up late but still made it to the office by 7:00 AM. Would not want to let my office computer down by not showing up and spending all my waking hours typing and doing research on the net.

Just as I entered the office the phone started ringing, the beeper started beeping, and the fax was going nuts. Not sure how all of these office machines know to sound off just as I walk in the door, but they know just when to start working.

Spent several hours catching up my notes on yesterday which was my work at home day. About 10:00 AM it was time to hoof it over to the hollowed halls of the main office and find an office on the 4th floor, 10th corridor. No matter how many times I go to the main office I still get lost, well kind of lost. Then again maybe I just like walking around looking like I am lost. There are so many folks at the main office, you never see the same person twice in the halls.

The meeting took four hours but the time flew by and I actually got some good information in the meeting. Too bad the tape recorder did not do as good a job as I had hoped. Tested the darn thing twice at my office and twice before the meeting in the meeting room and it worked great. All during the meeting the recorder was going but at the same time shutting off because one of the folks being interviewed did not have a loud enough voice to activate the recorder or be heard on the recorder all the time even when the recorder was running.

Once back at my office I gave my computer plenty of attention working capturing the meeting from my notes. Yes, I have a recording of the meeting but I always take notes just in case technology does not come through.

The day ended with me only half way through the notes but I did manage to check the recording and get the recording to the transcriber.

Traffic on the way home was terrible but I did manage to wave and smile all the way home to all the aggressive drivers. That included all the police vehicles that passed me doing 90 or so in a 50 with out lights and sirens on their way to who knows where. Wonder why no one pays attention to the speed limits, they watch the police and follow their example. Do not get me wrong, the police do a great job protecting us, but they need to follow the rules if they want us to follow the rules.

Got home just in time to continue to set up the holiday glitter that I will only see until the 21st since that is the day I head out for the not so friendly skies once again. No rest for the fun folks. Ha Ha Ha. I will return on the 29th so I can see the glitter a few days more and have fun on the 1st. As the end of the first week of the New Year 2004 ends I will be out and about once again in our friendly skies for more fun in the sun.

The every day hum drum life is not always fun but the hum drum life has it’s moments. I try and enjoy each and every moment since I never know when the hum drum life is going to go away.

Snow, rain, sleet and rain along with the cold is on its way this week. Wow, winter is almost here. Burrrrrrrrrrr
