Chillifields

I posted this entry a few days ago and was wondering why I didn’t get any notes. I thought maybe you all thought I was boring or my singing was crap or something but apparently it didn’t show up in anyone’s bookmarks. Annoying that, I was looking forward to people’s opinions of mine and Jay’s performances at Chillifields, because I am a massive narcissist. So I shall post the entry again and hope some people can see it this time :o)

I think Roxie’s damaged my back. There was a lady with a Staffie on a lead so I had to cross the road as Roxie can’t be near other dogs. I was holding her lead while she pulled when suddenly she leapt forward, jolting my arm. I felt pins and needles shoot up my arm and thought nothing more of it. But now, a few hours later, I have a pain in my back all down my right side. I’m sure it must be from this, I can’t think of it being anything else :o(

My back is fine now, but Wednesday was the most stressful walk ever. First, she almost got into a fight with a Labrador which was on an extendable lead and ran across the road to try and attack her. I had to pull her behind a van.
Almost immediately afterwards, two Staffie puppies came out of nowhere. I crossed the road with Roxie, but so did their owners. I changed my route, but they still continued to follow us! I kept having to weave and try and run out of their way.
At the end of the road, a cat suddenly ran out of a house and started fighting with Roxie while the cat’s owner just stood there yelling at me. There was blood, I don’t know whose blood, it wasn’t human I know that much.
In the park, she kept almost dragging me off my feet to chase various squirrels and a Dalmation.
On the way back, a tiny Chihuahua decided to fancy its chances and tried to run towards her while barking in what it thought was a vicious way. Really, this is a Rottweiler. Why do tiny dogs always think they’re the biggest ones?
And then she chased two more cats under cars.
This was all in the space of 30 minutes! By the time I got back I felt like I’d done 12 rounds with Mike Tyson.

I did my exercises tonight (Tuesday) but it’s a good job I’m having a break tomorrow, I’ll need to let my back recover. We’re going to the cinema to watch Monsters University so I won’t have time to exercise. My workouts are coming along well and I can see improvement all the time, there’s just an annoying little bit of belly fat, the bit below my belly button, that won’t shift. Annoying.

So me and Jay performed at Chillifields on Saturday, in front of about 25 people. Yeah, not exactly Wembley Stadium, but we played a half hour set so it’s a start. Last year, one bloke made a snide comment about how we only played covers. This year, we played four covers and four of our own original songs. Oh, but guess whose set was made entirely of covers? Yeah, the same bloke who had a go at us for it. Hypocrite.

It’s my mam’s 60th birthday on Thursday (yesterday) and I’ve got a couple of surprises for her. I can’t say what they are in case she reads this but I’ll be sure to share next week ;o)
