A Year (and a Half) in Photos, Part Eight
<— More photos that-a-way!!
This is the last one! I promise! Well, until I take more pictures, cause you know, that’s just what I do.
So, this entry contains only the photographs that I have in my ‘photography’ collection from the last year. They are what I consider my best shots from the last year. And when I say ‘best shots,’ I mean best relative to the time I took them. I’m going to post these chronologically, cause I definitely think my style has changed over the year.
Okay, so when I first moved to VA, I started following several different photographers on Flickr. Many of them did self-portrait projects to keep them on their toes and to learn new techniques. So, I started taking self-portraits for that same reason. This was my very first attempt, and still one of my favorites.
This was when I really started playing around with editing styles.
I was trying to look vacant in this, but I think I came off more sad. It’s weird taking photos of yourself. And at the time, I didn’t have a remote shutter release. I was having to set the timer and go back and forth between the camera and my scene each time. Plus, I didn’t have al servo focusing on my old camera, so I was having to manually focus on something else, try to position myself just right.. it was a bitch.
Pretending to be a vampire hunter.
Although, secretly, I just want to be a vampire. I bought this one of a kind necklace on Etsy. I haven’t actually worn it anywhere yet. I should.
I was going for a Stepford Wives feel.
A clockwork orange.
This is one of my favorites. I actually use this picture on my about.me profile.
When I went to visit Tammy for Christmas last year, this is what we woke up to on Christmas morning. I didn’t even have my camera with me, so I was shooting with Jeremy’s old, busted up Nikon that was in the car accident with the drunk drivers. Anywho, this church pew is sitting in Tam’s back yard looking out over her farm. It was very peaceful.
This old tobacco barn was in Tam’s front yard until it was ripped to shreds by a tornado this summer. I’m so glad I got this photo before that happened.
Horseys!!
This was the day I chopped all my long hair off.
I the inspiration for this one came from my nails. Duh.
Just wanted to play around with different channel extractions.
And this day I just wanted to capture movement.
I took this one on my 30th birthday. I titled it, "It’s My Birthday, and I’ll Cry If I Want To."
I was in a really weird mood that day.
I took this to contribute to a video project for a photographer I follow on Flickr. The project was called ‘I Am Beautiful’, and it was for Self Harm Awareness day.
Finally went out sightseeing in DC in Spring. First attempt at intentional sun flare.
I really went out to get pictures of the cherry blossoms.
I get lots of comments on this one, and it’s not really one of my favorites. I mean, I like it, but I don’t really love it.
Korean War Memorial. My grandfather fought in that war.
Of course I had to take one of the monument up close.
Got my
hair cut shorter, needed a new profile picture.
Taken at the Native American History Museum.
Ditto.
This is what originally spawned my idea for Halloween.
One of my favorite captures.
Sculpture Gardens.
Sculpture Gardens. One of my absolute most favorite pictures that I’ve taken.
Sculpture Gardens.
Fireworks at the Monument. This time it turned out right!
Taken at Shiprocked. My brother is actually having this printed and framed for his house.
And this one. Geoff Tate of Queensryche.
Taken at Alcatraz.
Ditto.
Taken at the Conservatory of Flowers.
One of my faves. Taken at Fort Point.
Taken while tandem biking with Chris to the bridge.
Awwwwwwwww. Taken at the base of the Sutro Baths.
And there you have it, folks! I’ll get back to writing normal entries now. Hope you enjoyed the recap in photos!
Cheers,
Felina
