Dogwood (R)

One Day at a Time

The dogwoods are everywhere, and for the life of me, I don’t know why I was going on and on weeks ago about those ugly ass pear trees that stink. Dogwoods are so much cooler. And they’re everywhere, nestled beautifully among the GREEN wooded areas. Everything is very green now. But I still have noticed our Oak trees are barely budding. They seem to be the last hold out for spring.

Apparently a pair of Eastern Bluebirds is nesting in the red bird box nailed to that White Oak behind our house (the bird box is red in colour/painted red, just want to be clear you didn’t think I was saying it was meant for "red birds" rather than blue birds). I was standing on the screened porch today overlooking it and I watched them fly in, fly out, perch on higher branches, flutter their wings as soft rains fell.

You can see the screen porch in this pic, but unfortunately the oak with bird box is out of view to the right. And it’s amazing what difference a few days makes. These pics were taken a few days ago and well, it’s so much more green now, after several days of rain.

And again, same tree, a view from the porch. Also, Azaleas.

More Azaleas.

Despite a rainy morning and mid-day (and several rainy days, quite honestly), the sun was out by evening so I decided to go for a run.
