Runaway (R)

One Day at a Time

About the same time, distance, and pace as my last run.  But the hills weren’t as bad.  Still a great run.  I DID push myself.  For better or for worse.  Especially when the weather is nice I have a hard time holding back once I get started.  I just want to keep going, probably longer than I should.

I’m thinking about starting a new training plan next week, for a half marathon.  The base runs seem to be about 4 miles long, and it gradually develops a long run over time, with at least one easy run a week and two off days a week.  The only problem is I just don’t know if I can do it because of my work schedule.  Summer would be ideal for this sort of thing because if push came to shove, I could always run immediately after work (even when I get off real late).  Running at midnight seems OK in the summer when it’s 75 or 80 degrees at that time.  It doesn’t seem OK in winter when it’s potentially below freezing.  And windier.  I guess the sane runner would try to run before work, but like I’ve always said, my motivation is lowest at the start of the day.

My mp3 random playlist for this run:

Enter Sandman (Metallica)
Dreams (Van Halen)
What If (Creed)
Answer In the Sky (Elton John)
Midnight Rider (Allman Brothers)
Nikita (Elton John)
Love Bites (Def Leppard)
Star Spangled Banner (Boston)  AGAIN!  What were the odds on random suffle?  10songs/150 = 6.7%
Keep Holding On (Avril Lavigne)
Runaway (Avril Lavigne)

Mild weather.  My perfect running weather (considering it’s dry).  If it was too humid at 64F (or if the sun was higher in the sky, like say in March or April) it would have not been as perfect (would have felt too warm).  But much cooler than 64F and the 10mph wind (which felt like 16+mph at times due to running into it) would have made it uncomfortably cool.  Fine running weather is a narrow balance, and we struck it just right today (for me, anway).
