The day I ran away…
Like, 7 weeks ago I ran away to the U.S! Damn time flies and how much has happened! My nearest and dearest have been keeping up with me via text messages and emails but I think the rest of you are in the dark!
So… I live in Kansas, right on the border of Missouri. In fact I’m so close to Missouri that I cross the bridge (down the road) and I’m there… lol. Now, initially I came here with the purpose of spnding time with Jimmy before he deployed and I always figured that I’d have to go back to Oz but a few things have transpired since I got here:
Jimmy and I went to NY with the intention of seeing his kids and pressuring the ex to sign the divorce papers. Well we saw the kids, had a blast and went trekking through NYC but as I may (or may not) have reported, the ex-witch refused to sign the papers. This left both Jimmy and I in virtual limbo because we had no idea how to get him divorced. We had a few very hairy days but quitting isn’t really in my vocab so I asked my parents if we could loan the money to hire (another) lawyer. They agreed and we are now in the initial phase of preparing a contested divorce. Contested means court so we’re also expecting to have to trip back to NYC at some point.
About 10 days ago, just before we drove down to Oklahoma to see Jimmy’s parents, we were surprised with an email that cancelled Jimmy’s proposed deployment to Afghanistan. Turns out they are not requiring him for a transition team anymore. I can’t say I was unhappy but the next question was… well then where??? We had a list of options e-mailed to us which included Georgia, Kentucky, Colorado, Louisiana, and New York and with a little reseach into the jobs on offer, the units available and the length of time until deployment was imminent and we eventually chose Colorado. In a month and a bit we’re PCS-ing to Fort Carson which is just outside Colorado Springs.
One night we went out to a friends house and a we met another couple who had been through the visa process. Contrary to my belief that I had to leave the U.S to apply for permanent residence, they told us you don’t. It threw us for a loop and that’s another reason we a) wanted the divorce processed and b) didn’t want him deploying before we had a chance to get everything sorted.
I don’t know how long it will take to pull everything together but I’m hoping we can make it all happen in the allocated timeframe. I know it would make life a lot easier if we didn’t have to go back to Australia for the meantime… The girls have begun to get used to being here, living with Jimmy and I and the way of life. I’m hoping that when school (in Colorado) begins in August that I can enrol the girls so they don’t miss out on too much of their education. I’m excited because it also means that I’ll be a short drive (sayyyyy 1 hour and a half?) from the delightful Mesa.
We’re all well and I’m getting great at sewing (bought myself a machine), 1000 piece puzzles and scrapbooking. Jimmy’s kids get here on June 20th so all the kids are thrilled they get to spend the summer together!! Weather is getting warmer and warmer and Jimmy and I are losing weight by doing Weight Watchers together!!!
Miss you all…

Sounds great…except for the continued stupid behaviour of the crazy lady!

Did you slap the stupid bitch around? You could always force her to sign the divorce. I hope things are well, and all in all, this sounds great!!

So glad you updated ! Nice to know what’s happening with you always.

that’s a lot of stuff happening all at once! I hate that she wont’ sign! In cali, from my research, if you have proof of service and they don’t sign or petition to contest within 30 days, it’s an auto divorce. heh… I wish I could serve my deadbet waste of space ex. ugh.
