i see you watching me, watching you…
Ahhh gotta love the Rogue Traders simply for having catchy lyrics. Tylah and I were in the car and despite it being 33 or 34 degrees and muggy as all hell we still wound down the windows and cranked the radio up to full volume and bopped around on our way to the station. Anyway Maroon 5 comes on and Tylah pipes up: "Heyyyyy this is Emma’s boyfriend!!!!" Yeah… she wishes he was…lol. But trust good ole’ Ty to remember facts like that!
So I went into the city today, spent 55 minutes at Births, Deaths and Marriages waiting for a copy of my marriage certificate (which I’ve been too lax to actually collect until now) which I needed for Mike’s immigration, then went to the Nurses Board to register myself for another year and finally to immigration to submit our final folio for Mike’s permanent residency! Whooooooot! Our file is now in the capeable (we hope) hands of Teresa Pretzel (that’s what I call her) and we hope she won’t take 5 years to make a decision!
Now I have a slight beef with some unknown human who has been sending emails around about a massive assed snake that’s ‘supposedly’ gobbling up sheep over here in good ole’ Australia causing the dust to fly around a bit.
This is the story/email I received:
This will make you NOT want to move to Australia!
Where is Little Bo Peep when you need her??
An Australian sheep farmer was puzzled at the disappearance of sheep on his farm.
After a few weeks of sheep disappearing the farmer decided to put up an electric fence.
The pictures show what he found! I nearly passed out! Check out that mid-section… sheep anyone?
And the attached pics:
AND:
Ugly bugger isn’t he?
My first impression was "ooooooh nasty!" He doesn’t look terribly friendly does he? My seconds instinct was to open the file once again and stare closely at the pic. First mistake: Most (and I say most because we have had some drought issues in Australia over the last couple of years) of Australia’s sheep farms are on lush looking territory. This snake is lying in dirt and sand. Definately NOT typical Aussie soil… even if it was it would possibly have a more reddish tinge to it. Second mistake: We have snakes (ohhhhhh yes) but we don’t have snakes this size unless they are in the zoos. I remember visiting the repile enclosure at the Melbourne Zoo one year and they had a big Boa Constrictor which was, well, big. I remember one of the keepers saying that some of our Croc’s don’t even get that big… so I thought to myself… this can’t be right. Thirdly: (Back me up here Aussies!!!!) This surely would have been shown on the news!!!????!!!! right? I mean, we have all sorts of bizarre news reports: women having babies in their cars on the side of the road; people tying themselves to tractors… etc etc… we would have heard about a snake gobbling up sheep!
So I decided to go a bit of googling… Mike was so sure it was fake he had me zoom into the photos to see if there was any super imposing going on… I thought they were real on the other hand, just not from here…
And I found the link right HERE!!! Yes, it’s on the urban myth webpage and apparently there have been numerous differing stories all with the same pics attached! lol… read them and see how they change!
To cut a long story short, the snake (a 4 metre rock python) was found on a game reserve in South Africa. It had just swallowed an impala (deer) and was too big to crawl underneath the electric fence without being electrocuted.
So yay me and my instincts!!! *grin*
BTW: Christy love, I sent you an email…lol. You are now free to visit Australia (apparently anyway)…

*kicks dirt at you* Meanie! I was merely passing along an email I was sent. Though it didn’t seem normal to me, I wanted you to see what people are saying about your country! LOL It’s good that I won’t run across this sort of thing on my visit, but I never ONCE saw a snake at all when I lived in Africa! LOL I will visit and we will find Nemo, K? 🙂 You google queen, you! 🙂

Thanks so much for the advice about the allergic reaction chicky — I really appreciate that and I think allergy testing definately might be the way to go. The only other thing I am seriously allergic too is (and I know I can’t spell this right lol) .. the antibiotic Eythamicin. I think people have this particular antibiotic when they are allergic to penecillin — LOL.. I’m backwards you know
