Tired but Good..
I am all good.
Kids like the new school.
Mondays I don’t work so took kids to new school. Picked up all their books, paid fees etc. Asked for Mr13 if there was a chance of him going into a different class. (maybe). Stayed and helped in Mr8s class for the morning. Went home and had a private melt down. Went to shop to buy covers for school books. Went back and picked them up. Went home and covered and named six thousand books. Went to bed at midnight.
There were a few melt downs. Apart from the fact that it was 44 Celcius! There were a few new parents, children and teachers who have come to this school from tiny country schools (me and mine included) who were freaked out by the first day chaos, the weather, the building renovation chaos and having to keep hundreds of children inside all day in the airconditioned classrooms.
Thank the Lord, or the circumstance, that the next day was cooler as it was the first day the Misters had to get themselves to school on bicycles (with their new helmets – keep forgetting they have to wear helmets in town) – and home again.
On my eventual arrival home (after a massive day at work), Mr13 informs me he has camp the next day. He was exhausted too (the heatwave was incredibly draining and we have good airconditioning – can’t imagine how people survived without.) So I was up late with packing and organising for that. Seven phone calls organising music lessons, sport, minder for Mr8 etc. etc.
Today at work was mind blowing for me. I had my boss, Four new students, massive urgent paperwork, probation meeting, My boss’s boss turned up out the blue, with the District Manager (everybody’s boss). Thank God (or circumstances) I had SIX students, working away diligently and co-operatively so I was able to IMPRESS. I would have been mortified if it was one of those studentless days when they all call in, otherwise-occupied. They might have cancelled the whole program on-the-spot and with it my position! How embarrassing would that be!
Work has got really busy for me and I am struggling to keep up and they keep scheduling in other stuff, on top of normal stuff. I work alone with no relief person so I am having to cancel classes to travel to capital city next week for moderation workshop. Tomorrow there is a phone linkup meeting with teachers all over Australia. And I have appointments to assess new students during teaching class time. I am loving that the job seems to be happening but it’s a bit hectic at the mo…
No time (or brain energy) to finish govt submission about koalas…
But I do have time, right now, for another prayer for the people of Queensland who are waiting, informed and anxious and as prepared as they can be, for all hell to break loose, in the form of the worst cyclone they have ever experienced. Next entry.
It’s horrible what is about to unfold in QLD. Lets hope no one gets hurt. My brother is in Cairns. I am so worried. Take care.. G~
